If you're craving authentic Korean BBQ in the heart of Shinjuku, look no further than Tonchan,a cozy gem run by a warm and friendly Korean lady with the help of two laid-back yet professional gentlemen. From the moment I stepped in, I felt right at home, and that feeling only grew stronger as the meal unfolded.
I ordered the pork belly (삼겹살), kimchi-jeon, and soybean paste soup (된장찌개). Each dish was impeccable, and I must say, the quality of the food here rivals—and perhaps even surpasses—what you'd find in Korea. It’s been a while since I last visited Korea, but Tonchan brought back the flavors I missed, with an extra touch of excellence.
The pork belly was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. One of the highlights of the experience was how the staff expertly grilled the meat for us at the table. They clearly know their craft, ensuring each piece was cooked to perfection, allowing us to savor the authentic taste without any stress.
The kimchi-jeon was crispy yet soft in the middle, packed with just the right balance of tangy and savory flavors. And the soybean paste soup? A comforting bowl of rich, deep flavors that made me feel like I was dining in a homestyle kitchen in Korea.
I walked away fully satisfied, not only with the exceptional food but also with the warm, attentive service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. If you’re in Shinjuku and want a taste of Korea, Tonchan should be at the top...

Better to eat at main restos on the main roads if you will be...

The drinks were great too, especially the apple sour and the pineapple mango yan. Only problem was the sitting charge that came out of nowhere, but at least the...
