I visited this restaurant alone at 5 pm with a reservation. Upon arrival, I was seated promptly, and the menu was already on the table. However, I waited over 20 minutes without any interaction from the staff. Despite making eye contact with the two waiters who were assisting other guests nearby, I received no attention. Even when I tried to get their attention, one briefly acknowledged me with a “hai” (yes) but then continued ignoring me!
The restaurant was only about 40% full, and the waitstaff didn’t appear overly busy—they had breaks between serving other tables. Simply informing me they’d be with me shortly would have been fine, but the complete lack of communication made me feel overlooked and undervalued as a customer. This lack of professionalism set a disappointing tone for the entire experience!
Eventually, a female server arrived, and I was finally able to place my order. She was attentive and mentioned that the wagyu beef rice included in the Kiwani course might be too large for one person, as it’s typically meant for two. She suggested I substitute it with cold noodles, which she said would reduce the price. I appreciated her suggestion and agreed to the substitution. However, I was still charged the full course price, despite the change, and would have been charged an additional 700 yen if I’d wanted to keep both the rice and noodles. Although this wasn’t a major issue for me, it did add to my frustration, especially after being ignored at the beginning. For non-Japanese speakers, it would help if these details were clarified more consistently to avoid misunderstandings…
Adding to the inconsistency, I observed a couple who arrived after me being promptly served drinks, wet towels, and a full menu explanation—all things I didn’t receive. I eventually received a wet towel with my dessert course, likely because the server noticed that other guests received towels right away. These small moments collectively made me feel as though I wasn’t receiving the same level of attention or care as others!
Overall, this experience was, unfortunately, the most disappointing dining moment I had in Japan. While the food was fine, it didn’t justify the high price, and the service left me feeling...
Read moreWe are a group of tourists from SG and decided to try this restaurant based on the good reviews.
What we liked: Menu has English, quality of meat is not bad. The lady at reception was friendly and helpful with our reservation.
What we didn't like: -We arrived punctually at our reservation time. Upon being seated, we were ignored for 25 minutes. Seems like the server was busy? Or maybe he was procrastinating because... -For a restaurant in Ginza, and considering that half the customers were tourists, we were surprised that our server spoke no English at all. -That's OK, we can use translation apps and and hand gestures to communicate. But the server was not even trying and he didn't smile and didn't seem friendly at all. This was very different from all the other places we went where servers would try their best to communicate with us. -We repeatedly told the server not to put marinade sauce on the beef. The server confirmed that this was an option. Usually if the beef is high quality, just salt and pepper would do. Despite our repeated requests, there was still marinade on every order. After the third round of sweet marinated beef, we decided to cut our dinner short as we didn't want them to waste any more meat. -After eating the Thick Cut Outside Skirt cut, we liked it and ordered a second serving. It looked totally different from the first order. We asked the server whether it was correct (maybe there was a miscommunication?) and he said it was the correct item by pointing at the line item in the menu. We cooked it and it tasted totally different from the first serving. Looking at other tables around us, their version of Thick Cut Outside Skirt was also different from what we had. We were confused by the inconsistency. -We read in the reviews about how great the place was. It made us so much more disappointed.
Dinner was eventually completed with some snacks from Family Mart. At least Family Mart is clear...
Read moreWe went to Ushigoro in 13 Oct 4:00pm and had best wagyu experience in our life, the waitress was friendly and professional, she provided excellent service for us, so we decided to go to your restaurant again before we leave Japan. However, it’s definitely terrible experience we ever had in Tokyo… we went to Ushigoro again in 16 Oct 4:50-6:30 pm with no reservation. We were arranged in 2nd floor in a private room. The waitress who severed us is not polite and friendly to us, I also can say she is not respect us. Below is the situation in that day: When she took the meat in, she never said anything. She just put it on the table. When she come in our room, she didn’t ask or knock the door. She didn’t ask us the sauce we wanted. ( as the first time we come to Ushigoro, the other waitress tell us you have two different sauce, include sweet and sour.) This point is what we never accept! When we finished the meal also paid the bill, she didn’t give us the hot towel and tea until we ask her. I can’t believe it! Every Japanese restaurant and first time we visit Ushigoro do that, doesn’t that waitress? After we asked for the hot tea and hot towel, she even clear the table while we hadn't leaving the room, and without any words or honors.
I just love Japan and Ushigoro. When I visited Ushigoro first time, I think you deserve 5 point in Tabelog! But I got this terrible experience from your waitress who was disrespect to us, I will never...
