Yonemoto Coffee Head Shop — Restaurant in Tokyo

Go here for a sandwich, but not for Cappuccino/ Latte Macchiato! They feign the appearance of a coffee specialty shop and offer Cappuccino on their menu card, but actually don’t even have the proper equipment required to pull (1) good espresso shots (2) nor to foam milk nicely. I cannot judge their other coffee products as I tried cappuccino only.

I still don’t really know what I was served, but it tasted like filter coffee with a very poor version of milk foam on top of it (both coming from an automated machine). Trust me when I say that every instant coffee machine in one of japans supermarket chains produces a better cappuccino (they are actually decent for their price). Forgot to take a picture of the coffee, I have only one of the view from their café.

Followed our noses from the market area of Tsukiji to the outer area. Smelled absolutely delightful. Place was quite packed, there were no seats available so we decided on getting our drinks to go and having them while standing outside the shop.

I decided to get a cup of iced charcoal coffee - I'd say one of the best coffees I've had in Japan. It's served black but you could taste a certain creaminess pushing through and the flavour of the beans.

We also had 2 iced lattes and a hot latte. The iced lattes tasted similar to every other iced latte in Japan we've had - milk with a tinge of coffee. The hot latte fared better than its iced counterparts and tasted quite balanced.

I was the most pleased with my random selection (yes, I did pick this because of charcoal) of charcoal coffee. Shame that we discovered this gem on our last day in Tokyo, otherwise, I would have definitely made...

I usually don't really like caramel iced coffee, but I gave it a try here and I was not disappointed. It was lovely. Inside I found a sort of beatles shrine.
