Came to Tsukiji 15 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the sashimi-sushi restaurants under the previous Tsukiji market settings. Sashimi offerings with miso soup ) ere fresh as they were right off the dock. Am here this week while trying what remained of Tsukiji (didn't get a chance to visit the Toyosu new settings) and visited 2 restaurants. Their offerings of daily "fresh" sashimi failed miserably to my taste and I would say it is rather disappointing of its quality. The only place of comfort for fresh uni was with Unitora Nakadori (waited for 45 minutes in line) and Toritoh (fresh free range chicken) "kaisendon" was rather tasty with one raw shiny egg on its top. May have to try similar restaurants over at Toyosu on my next trip. Generally my conclusion is that all (if not most) of the sushi restaurants within the Tsukiji Market is over rated and catered for most general tourist demands as Sushizanmai (a local sushi chain) has 3 restaurants within 5 minutes walk in Tsukiji. So if your taste buds fall within these general sushi customers, your sushi urging appetite would have...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this restaurant in Tsukiji! We found this cozy sushi place to sit down after strolling around the market for a few hours. The pictures on the menu seem little dubious, so we decided to try few pieces.
Wow!!! Chirashi was crazy good! You can see the quality of sashimi from the photo. I ordered uni, toro, octopus and scallop sushi. Every bite was just amazing and fish was so fresh.
I wish I could eat their omakase.. I saw all the other customers enjoy omakase at the sushi counter and it looked amazing. For 11 course price is 3900 yen which is about 26 usd. Many Japanese locals were eating omakase.
Chefs were very pleasant and friendly. They provided soup which was packed with deep umami flavor. We enjoyed our lunch so much and dreaming of coming back in a near future. Price is very low now… we end up paying 4500 yen which converts to 29.60 USD for both of us. Highly recommend this sushi restaurant when you...
Read moreWe are staying at Ginza. Had wanted to drop into Kyubey but the hotel recept told us that it is closed on Monday. We then decided to wal to Tsukiji market to see what's available. The lady outside the store was v courteous and we decided to go in. V pleasant and clean environment. We had the sushi counter seats and ordered the Omakase set. I did not really keep track of how many pieces of sushi we had but it was just right. The chutoro, otoro, amberjack, iwashi was really good. There was also live shrimp, hotate, crab leg with anago and unagi finishing off the course like how it should be. I thought the Shari is warm but can be a little stronger but that's always a personal preference. For the price, it is a good deal. I don't...
