If you’re in Tokyo and looking for a convenient sushi spot while transiting from Narita Airport, this restaurant near the main transit routes is a solid choice. We decided to drop in without a reservation, as it was a spontaneous visit, and were pleasantly surprised to find it not too crowded. We were quickly seated at the sushi bar, which offered the perfect chance to watch the chef prepare each piece of sushi freshly in front of us.
The restaurant offers set menus, but we opted for an a la carte experience to pick our favorites. Their seafood, sourced daily from the famed Toyosu Market (豐州市場), included some seasonal selections, and the overall quality was impressive, especially given the affordable prices. Our entire meal came to about 7000 yen per person, making it great value for the quality.
Most of the sushi was satisfying, though we had a few misses. While the sea urchin (uni), salted salmon roe, and abalone didn’t quite hit the mark — the uni was bland, the salmon roe overwhelmingly salty, and the abalone underwhelming — other items more than made up for it. The akagai (ark shell clam) was decent, but the hokkigai (surf clam) was the highlight: incredibly fresh, sweet, and satisfyingly thick. Unfortunately, they didn’t have some of the items we asked about, like ebi, but the selection they did offer was quite good.
We’d seen some Google reviews mentioning that the staff here might have a brusque attitude toward tourists, but thankfully, that wasn’t our experience at all. On our visit, the chef was welcoming and attentive, even at the sushi bar. He was friendly and made an effort to meet our requests for specific types of sushi, adding a warm touch to our meal. It was a nice reminder not to judge a place solely by online comments, and it’s another reason we’d happily stop by again next time we're...
Read moreNice place, food, beer, sake, and fresh...really fresh sashimi. I would recommend them to those who like origin japanese food. Close to ueno n kanda 16 stations, that might be very easy for you to reach. A table of 6 or 10 is available although reservation is suggested (because the number is quite big for the group. Unless only 1 or 2 of you, then you can just hop in the restaurant without hesitate. The place is chick and non smoking, so you might find fresh air inside the room. The helper is also very helpful and very nice. Even we don't speak japanese, they tried their best to let us understand anything detailed in their menu or promotion tools. So...enjor it and share what you have experienced...
Read moreThe store front sign is in Japanese and in general English was a challenge. But their sushi was delicious. We had the Jo-Zushi combo (1900 yen) and the Tokujo-Zushi combo (2500 yen). The fish was fresh, diverse and pretty. These came with a miso soup each BUT if you order miso soup they have 3 variants - I ordered the seaweed (nori) and it was green, unique and tasty. A neat feature was that we sat on the floor but there was a pit under the table so it was comfier with legroom so more comfy than just sitting on the floor. Some of us were really impressed by the cucumber sushi for some reason it just felt fresher and crunchier...
