REVIEW UPDATED 8/25/2024
La Salsa was, pre-pandemic, a great quality and value taco buffet restaurant, a really unique and valuable place in Yokohama. However, after the pandemic it transitioned into a regular Text-Mex restaurant and a pretty average one. Not great value and not great service. My chili burger looked sad but tasted very nice. The pulled pork tacos were fine but pricey and tiny. It may be harsh comparing it to the old buffet, but this version of La Salsa cannot be recommended. Bring back the old style with the JALAPEÑOS!
(Original Review from pre-pandemic)
This place was formerly located in Yokohama World Porter’s, but is new and improved in this recently opened reincarnation. The buffet includes curry, a small salad bar, some fried foods, slider burgers, roast pork and the main attraction- tacos and lots of different salsas. The tortillas are freshly made to order.
I’m can’t say if this Mexican food is authentic but I loved it, especially the Mexican pork, and the soft flour tortillas were delicious.
There’s some super-spicy choices here, like the brown salsa, but mild options too.
My kid loved the ice cream and chocolate fountain! There’s also free soda, tea and coffee. Booze is reasonably priced and includes draft Budweiser at 800 yen and Hoegaarden. However, if you want to booze it up, all-you-can drink deals can be added for around 1500 per person (advance...
Read moreWe used to frequent the la salsa back at Yokohama world porters when they had the soft taco buffet so we were really excited to see see it back here in Mark is. However, it seems they have stopped doing the buffet or it's not available on weekend lunches because it was just a normal lunch menu when we came. And they've added more tex mex menu options as well.
We didn't have too many issues getting a seat and ordering but it took a while to get our food. They also didn't really explain about the refillable drinks when we ordered (it's written on the menu if you really read it).
Our food was OK. It was weirdly bland, like it looks like it should taste of some spices and seasoning but it was really mainly just salt and probably lemon? or something sour. They made a show of doing a flambe at the table which was entertaining since the flame hadn't completely gone out and they almost set something else on fire lol.
The large windows allowed a lot of outdoor light to come in which was really nice but it was raining when we were there so the view wasn't great. The decor was a bit cheap though, and I wasn't a fan of the...
Read moreI came here for the taco buffet but they are not doing that during corona….I used to frequent their old incarnation in World Porters….so I was a tad disappointed. The 3 taco lunch set looked ok but not exactly filling so I opted for a Texas BBQ burger. Expectations were not really high bit I surprised myself by actually enjoying it. Burger was meaty and tasty, it had a bunch of fried onions on top, perhaps a bit overkill but they did provide a nice crunch. It did have some sort of sauce on it….a southern spiced mayo perhaps(?!) but I wouldn’t call it BBQ sauce….it was tasty enough tho. The salad bar and drink bar combo is pretty basic and not really worth it IMO. Overall….decent, but I really wanted the all u can...
