A Tale of Two Steaks: Instagram vs. Reality
As someone with extensive experience in grilling and a deep appreciation for a well prepared steak, I approached this steak house with high hopes. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of the enticing images presented in their marketing materials.
The Expectation vs. Reality
The restaurant's social media is a carnivoreâs dream. Their pictures showcases a T-bone steak with an impressive sear, rich in color and warmth. Enticed by these images, I ordered that T-bone with a side dish, expecting a showcase of their expertise as a steakhouse.
The Disappointing Result
What arrived at my table was far from the advertised product. The steak had an unappetizing gray exterior, a clear indication that the grill wasn't hot enough during preparation. For those familiar with proper steak cooking techniques, this is a red flag.
The Importance of Proper Searing
A well-prepared steak should have a golden-brown crust, achieved through a process called the Maillard reaction. This occurs when proteins and sugars on the meat's surface are exposed to high heat, creating complex flavors and that signature caramelized appearance. The lack of this indicated a fundamental flaw in their cooking process.
Final Thoughts
While this experience was disappointing, especially from a restaurant specializing in steaks, I'm not ready to write them off completely. Also since the atmosphere is delightful and the staff is extremely kind and serving, but letâs remember this is a steakhouse so the steak is the star of the show.
As a local resident, I'm hope they succeed. The prospect of having a great steakhouse in the neighborhood, without having to venture far, is incredibly appealing.
I'm willing to give them another chance in the future, hoping this was just an isolated incident. My desire for a high-quality local dining option remains strong, and I sincerely hope Re:Wharf can step up to fill that role.
For now, if you're craving a guaranteed excellent steak experience, you might need to travel a...

Let me start off by saying that the atmosphere and the service were 10/10. We made reservations for my birthday and when we came in we got seated by the windows to a stunning view of Yokohama Bay.
The most amble servers ever, they were expecting my wife and I with excitement.
50% of dining experiences come from customer service and this was absolutely top notch.
I did not know what I got myself into when I reserved the full course meal. But I was not disappointed, the food was great, they had a delicious cob salad that I am eager to recreate in my home.
I wish I would've gotten the names of our servers because they were amazing and made us feel comfortable with the English they spoke.
I'm not sure what everyone is going on about the steaks being gray, but our steaks were perfect (were from Texas, we know what good steak is)
Let me tell you about the Live Jazz they had playing from 1930-2015. It was delightful, many songs that my wife and I knew aswell it was a very nice treat.
A really nice thing that they have is options, I have an allergy to Almonds and they had good variety of desserts to choose from because of my allergies and I am very thankful to the staff for being so careful.
The pricing makes sense for the premium service that is offered here and honselty, you could of had charged me 20%-40% more and I wouldn't of had said no.
Thank you so much to the staff for making us feel welcomed to celebrate a special day. We will see you...
Read moreThe entrance and interior are very nice, we were welcomed warmly and well attended by the staff.
The food was nicely presented and tasty. Of the sides that came with the nice steaks, the creamed spinach was a bit average but the creamed potato was good. Personally Iâd prefer to not have both the potato and greens creamed. The one other minor service point iâd make is maybe hot teas and coffees should be served in their respective cups.
Iâm not completely convinced itâs worth the price (Â¥60,000 for 2 adults and 2 children) but we did eat a lot.
We ordered 3 x T-bone steak short courses, 1 x burger course, a seafood platter for 2, a Japanese rock oyster and a round of drinks so, although it was a family celebration and a bit extravagant, it wasnât unreasonable.
I donât feel itâs the sort of place most people will just casually drop into when wandering around the red bricks, but it is good for celebrations, treats with family or friends, dates, business dinners, even solo. If I was to do any of that in Yokohama then Iâd return, as we all had a lovely time and left...
