Last May 2023, my friend and I had the pleasure of dining at the Forest Restaurant in Riga on our first day, and it was an unforgettable experience that surpassed all expectations. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and the ambiance exuded an inviting and cozy atmosphere.
We began our culinary journey with the beef fillet carpaccio, and it was a masterpiece on a plate. The presentation was awe-inspiring, with delicate slices of tender beef fillet drizzled in truffle olive oil that lent an earthy richness to each bite. The subtle hint of sea salt perfectly complemented the flavors, while the generous sprinkling of Monte Campo cheese added a delightful creaminess that elevated the dish to a whole new level. Each component was carefully balanced, creating a harmonious symphony of tastes that left us craving for more.
Moving on to the main course, we indulged in the pork ribs, and we were blown away. The ribs were flawlessly cooked, tender, and succulent, practically falling off the bone. The marinade infused the meat with a blend of sweet and savory notes that delighted our taste buds.
The Forest Restaurant truly deserves Michelin recognition for its culinary artistry. The plating was a visual masterpiece, as if each dish was a canvas skillfully painted with flavors. It's clear that the chefs at Forest Restaurant put tremendous effort into every aspect of the dining experience, from sourcing the finest ingredients to the creative combinations that left us in awe.
Throughout our meal, the staff displayed professionalism and attentiveness, making us feel like valued guests. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations, enhancing our overall dining experience. They also gave us a welcome appetizer.
In conclusion, our visit to Forest Restaurant in Riga last May 2023 was nothing short of extraordinary. The impeccable plating, friendly and attentive staff, and the phenomenal food made it a dining experience to remember. We wholeheartedly believe that Forest Restaurant deserves Michelin recognition for its outstanding culinary artistry. If you find yourself in Riga, do not miss the opportunity to embark on a gastronomic adventure at Forest Restaurant. It's an experience that will leave you with lasting memories and a newfound appreciation for the art of...
Read more2022 UPDATE: In business as usual, Forest keeps delivering well prepared and well presented recipes, offered thru an alway changing menu. My appetizer, some butter-fried tiger prawns on a mango-chili salad with an unusual fried cauliflower pureé was absolutely intriguing: taste, presentation, temperature and consistency were almost perfect. The duck breast I had as a main was very good also: rare as I asked, was perfectly matched by the cherry sauce. Unfortunately you don't get any longer neither a free amouse-bouche nor a mini-sorbet waiting for your main, but C19 have bitten hard in the last two years and I presume containing costs is, for restaurants, even more vital than in the past. Not a real issue: they still deserve all of the 5 ☆.
2021 UPDATE: this was my second visit to this restaurant and, this time, I was sitting in the outdoor area. Even if the terrace faces a busy street, it's not bad since there are some large trees on both sides and, not irrelevant, you're outside of the most touristy area. My spinach and ricotta ravioli in a mushroom sauce were, in my personal opinion, tastier than last year and the sauce temperature was perfect. Their pan fried zander with lentils, capers, asparagus and more was flawless: perfectly cooked, well presented. Their free amouse-bouche and ginger sorbet (to wash your mouth between appetizer and main) will give your dinner a touch of class at an affordable price. That's why I'm giving them the 5th ☆. Keep up with this good job guys!
Fitted with the interiors of an upmarket restaurant, this place offers good food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately my appetizer, some spinach-cottage cheese ravioli on a porcini mushroom creamy sauce was a bit tasteless. On the other side the duck breast, I had as a main, was very good. Even though their kitchen staff is definetely on the professional side, in my personal opinion they still have some chances to improve the quality of dishes offered to...

We booked for NYE, 7 courses, with a 50 euro deposit per head (4 people). If you're booked for 2020 NYE, go somewhere else. Yes, the food was delicious but! The quantity is ridiculous! It's so tiny, that 7 course couldn't fill us up and we're seriously debating about going a buildings down after for pizza, but it was closed. Then we paid nearly 300 euros on top of that just for drinks, essentially. So, roughly 600 euros for 4 people, for a few hours. It's not worth it... SERIOUSLY! You could spend that money on much better things in Riga. Okay 42 euros of that was spent on Hennesy Library, which isn't worth it. It's room temperature and should be warmed to make it smooth, don't waste your money on this. Visit the local Maxima and get Hennesy for a more reasonable price and better taste.
Genuinely, disappointed with this place. We were one of the first groups there, so we got to hang our coats up in a cupboard. However, later guests had to (well the staff) literally just threw them in the sofa next to the cupboard. You expect more for that amount of money. Go...
