We had early dinner inside though there is a nice terrace with heaters.
Food: We ordered tenderloin steaks, which came through rare and medium juicy as ordered. It wasn't the best ever steak but definitely on the better side. We also ordered grilled vegetables as side dishes, it was a bit small portion but tasty. We also had peppercorn sauce and truffle-something sauce. First sauce was okay but a little watery, the truffle sauce could have been better.
Dessert: Crème Brûlé was good with a lot of blueberry (?) compot on the bottom.
Drinks: the still water was warm, the Piña Colada was served in a pretty glass and it was tasty, but contained no alcohol (I get easily tipsy, so I know).
Service: Initial service was good. The server spoke very good English and saved us from an embarrassing attempt at Latvian, and she was polite and patiently came back to ask if we were ready to order. There wasn't a long wait because we were the only dining customers at first. However, after our order was served, we couldn't have them notice us even with a little pantomiming - and we didn't want to embarrass them by having to actually call out for them. We waited 20 minutes for an opportunity to order dessert, then another 20 to get our check. We asked for our check from another server but they disappeared and only when we started to put our coats on, the check arrived quickly. There were only three tables filled when we wanted to order dessert, so there was no excuse with three servers and other staff, so we weren't just being karens.
Atmosphere: It was a bit too dark to read the menu with normal eyesight. Animal pelts on the walls felt a bit too 1980s. Otherwise, clever interior choices. The music (classic and new country music) on street level played too loudly - and we weren't allowed to move upstairs where the soundscape would have been conversation safe and offered a nice view to the street.
A nice touch: Though there was only one restroom, it was clean, with toilet seat disinfecting liquid available - and there were actual towels to dry hands...
Read moreIt is a shame that that type of establishment is actually open in Riga. Been there tonight, I know it is a place for tourists but I thought the meat would be good, especially as it is really expensive restaurant for Riga, ordered a 500g T-bone rare.. but it was really uncooked, i mean rare is not raw and it is called "Steiku Haoss" FFS... Not even a pinch of salt and pepper. The piece arrived in a plate without anything(i am not even talking about the quality of the meat, so much grease attached to it for a part of meat coming from that back of a cow) the garlic sauce was a joke as well... Really it was so aweful that it was even funny, my wife and I thought it would be a good idea to order a glass of wine, we ordered a Bordeaux Bellegrave 2015, and believe it or not but the wine was corked, so i took the waitress aside in order to be gentle, to smell the wine and she told me "ok i bring it back", but 30 seconds after she comes back saying that the bartender said it was fine, i went to talk to the bartender but he was clueless... I didn't wanted to do a fuss, so just took another glass of Rioja and that's it. But franckly, it was absolutely ridiculous. I come to Riga for while now and truly this is the worst retaurant experience you can have here. So much options, better for less cash here. At the end it is my fault, I knew i shouldn't have come. I don't write that of things normaly but it is too bad, i needed to tell everyone. And remember that you will pay an extra 10% for service, it is written on the menu at the end in small. I have no problem to give a tip, but i prefer for it to be my choice instead of being forced as unfortunately as well, service...
Read moreMe and my partner both went in this restaurant with the best expectations after reading the reviews online but we was both very disappointed with the price and quality of food we payed for and was given no apology after we told the staff we was not happy with the product we was given and the worst meal we had during our stay in Riga .....
We both ordered starters which where very overpriced . A onion soup which was 7 euros which was bland and tasted like dishwater with onions in it .... My partner ordered bacon wrapped scollops which was 14 euros for 3 very small slightly cold scollops.
We both ordered steaks a t-bone and garlic steak which were not cooked to how we asked for them and when I asked the waiter could he ask the chef to cook our stakes a little more . His reply was to use the hot plate that my steak was on and both steaks were bland with no seasoning and payed extra for sides as the stakes come with nothing ... Just steaks for 30 euros and both sides where clearly frozen .chips and onion both very overpriced and both come to 10euro .the whole restaurant smells like a deep fat fryer. In the end very disappointing experience that will never entertain as the meal at our hotel restaurant was a lot better and would recommend it to people...
