My wife and wife's family are Lithuanian, so I visit Kaunas few times per year. We had dinner at PJazz in Laisvės al. on Saturday 8th January at 5.15 pm. We ordered some starters and main courses. The starters (literally salad for me and chicken wedges for my wife's sister) were brought in different moments. At least a 15 minute-gap. The salad was missing olive oil, therefore I stood up and asked the Waitress who was at the bar if she could bring some olive oil so I could eat my salad. Almost 7-8 mins later she was still at the bar and no action, therefore I stood up again and asked her. At that point I was already disappointed by their low quality service, lack of attention and more importantly the lack of understanding how you should serve a simple salad. Obviously I'm not expecting the service to be in line with London or New York but if you have a restaurant in Laisvės al. at least you should know the foundations of an acceptable service. The chicken wedges came 15 minutes later. How is it possible not to bring at the same time the food? Once again, sadly enough the fundamentals of service were missing. At this point we waited for more than 45 minutes for the mains to come. Just to be clear, the mains were pasta. This is not an Italian place so I didn't expect the quality to be memorable but 45 minutes? And me standing up twice to tell the waitress how much longer we should wait? Lack of communication, no expectation management, extremely low quality service. Perhaps the worst I've ever seen on all my trips to Lithuania. The mains finally came. My pasta was overcooked. To be clear, these were Strozzapreti which are one of the easiest things to boil. The sauce was average. It felt like a cafeteria food. Overall, they have a great spot in Laisvės al., a beautiful layout, it feels cosy but the service and food quality is certainly very low quality. Perhaps Pizzas are better, but I didn't try them. This place needs urgently some management reviews because clearly that's not how you treat clients. Once again, perhaps because I lived in London for almost a decade or in Paris for 3 years or currently in Madrid. There are good and bad restaurants everywhere in the world but what I cannot accept is the lack of basic attention, the fundamentals of service (do we really need to explain that courses should come all at the same time, really?) and the customer experience. I tried to be constructive so hopefully you can take this and review your HR policies, trainings and improve. Otherwise, please leave your Laisvės al. place to somebody who can be in line with the...
Read morePJazz Restaurant in Kaunas is one of those timeless spots that never loses its charm. Known as one of the oldest and most respected restaurants in the city, it perfectly blends tradition with quality, making every visit memorable. The atmosphere itself is welcoming, with a cozy yet elegant interior that makes it suitable for both casual dining and special occasions. There’s a sense of authenticity in the place that immediately makes you feel at home, while still offering a refined dining experience.
The food at PJazz is truly top-notch. I had the chance to try their fish, which was perfectly cooked—fresh, flavorful, and delicately seasoned. Their steaks are equally impressive, cooked exactly to preference and full of juicy, rich taste. The sauces complemented the dishes beautifully, adding depth without overpowering the natural flavors of the meat and seafood. Another highlight was the coconut smoothie, which was refreshing, creamy, and the perfect balance of sweet and light—an excellent choice to round off the meal.
What makes PJazz stand out is not just the high standard of food but also the consistency. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the service is attentive without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you can trust every order to meet expectations, whether you’re exploring new flavors or sticking with favorites.
Overall, PJazz remains a must-visit restaurant in Kaunas. With its excellent menu, warm atmosphere, and rich legacy, it’s no wonder locals and visitors alike consider it one of the finest dining spots...
Read moreWaited for food for an hour, when lunch break is 45min, and when food was brought, it was cold. I was late for work because of the wait. The staff, all of the 5 waitresses, were just standing around their computer, counting tips, doing nothing. Many people besides from us had the same problem and were furious. Even then staff didn't do anything about it, didn't even go to enquire about issues with the kitchen. I work in customer service myself and I know for sure this is not how you solve issues and serve your clients when they are upset, therefore I can calmly say that customer service from their...
