Even though 3 star rating says it's OK, Višta Puode was not really OK. It was Wednesday, around 4 p.m. and our group of 5 people was the only one sitting outside. We had to wait for a waiter for about 5 minutes which is not OK when there is no people around. Not to mention that before this I had to ask for the menu myself. I had worked as a waitress and I know that if the restaurant does not serve something from the menu that day, they have to say it in advance. This didn't happen and, of course, we wanted particurlarly those 2 meals that couldn't be served. If this wasn't enough, we ordered 2 portions of sweet potato chips (wayyyy overpriced, it's 4.5€, totally not worth it. tasteless, not crunchy enough, not enough cheese dip) but they served only one portion because it was the last one left (of course, we didn't know that in advance). As you can imagine, the first 20 minutes were really dissapointing. Then, we had to wait for food really long, more than 25 minutes, so if you are hungry, I don't recommend this place. Dishes were really basic (not in a good way) and overpriced. Prices could be acceptable if the recipes would be more original. All of my friends gave this place 2/5 but I'm giving 3 just because it was our first time and the interior as well as the place itself is nice. Although I will never come back to this restaurant again and I won't recommend it to others. One of my friends was a foreigner (we came to Višta Puode to show him our regional/Nordic cuisine) and he was really dissapointed as well.
P.S. Since the waiter didn't ask how was the food and overall experience at the restaurant, we could't share this with the staff.
Apsigavom visi 5, tad tikrai...
Read moreMyself and my wife went for dinner hoping for a great meal. Unfortunately it wasn't. I ordered at first the chicken and new potatoes and my wife ordered chicken pancakes. The waiter informed me that it had been busy so no chicken, which is a bit strange for a chicken restaurant. So I then ordered the pork medallions. A few minutes later he came back and said no pork. Ok let me look at the menu again. This time I asked what was in the Noblemans Stew. I was told beef and mash ( no mention at all of mushrooms). Ok so let's try the Noblemans Stew. Food arrived in about 15 minutes. It was not what I was expecting. Probably the most minute pieces of beef I have ever seen in a stew and also mushrooms which I wasnt told about. To be honest it was one of the worst if not the worst meals I have ever had. It tasted of nothing. Absolutely no seasoning at all. My partners pancakes were just as tasteless and no flavour. So strange. I could not finish the Stew.
We asked for the bill which eventually came. My wife paid and when I checked it included an extra main course. When the same waiter passed near I kindly asked if he had a minute to check the bill to which he shouted 'wait'. Eventually he came back and agreed he made a mistake then disappeared never to return. Finally after about 10 mins a female employee came to our table to ask if everything was OK. I said no it wasn't as we had been overcharged over 15 euros. She told us that she was contacting the directors of the business to sort. Eventually after another 10 mins another female employee came to our table with the cash and to her credit apologised. Just a really bad experience so my advice is avoid this restaurant.
The beer and negronis were good. So perhaps avoid the food and have a cocktail...
Read moreThe menu is very creative and fun to read, I really enjoyed going through the dishes and trying to understand what the food would be. I had a hard time choosing, it all sounded so fun! So that was really playful. On the other hand, it was very confusing, I had to ask several questions trying to understand what the dish would actually consist of… i finally decided for veal steak with bell-pepper ice cream. I was told the ice cream was not sweet and not too weird, that it was very nice and it was their signature dish. I was also told that there would be vegetables served with it. What they brought me was by no means a steak but a schnitzel — a breaded deep-fried piece of meat…. Topped with a big spoon-full of herb butter— I guess the oil from the deep-fried bread crumbs wasn’t enough… the ice cream didn’t taste like bell-peppers at the slightest. It was sweet and tasted like fake cream in cheap cakes. The vegetables I was told I would get were just a few pieces of lettuce, again covered with some sweet sauce. I found this whole dining experience extremely disappointing as the menu sounded so exciting and the dish really disappointed me on multiple levels.
I then switched with my friend who got the cod entrecot which wasn’t bad, but there were only a few pieces of cod and A LOT of cheese, it was very greasy, the fish was basically swimming in oil. The quinoa it came with was undercooked.
Overall, really not a fan. That said, the location is lovely and the starter was nice. If you like weird greasy food with a bit of a surprise, do go...
