Teresa Laksa is truly a hidden gem in Kuching, despite Google indicating a temporary closure. Thanks to a local friend's recommendation, I discovered that this charming eatery was very much open during my visit in early September 2023, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
Known for serving one of the best mee kolok dishes in Kuching, Teresa Laksa lives up to its reputation. I decided to bring a taste of Kuching back home to Kuala Lumpur by purchasing a dozen packets of mee kolok without soup. I requested the staff to pack them meticulously to ensure they could withstand the journey in my luggage.
Operating from 6 pm until the early hours of the morning, Teresa Laksa caters to those seeking a delicious late-night meal. I visited the restaurant around 10 pm and promptly refrigerated the 12 packets in my hotel room. The next day, after my afternoon flight back to Kuala Lumpur, I immediately stored them in the freezer.
Remarkably, even after the transit and freezing process, the mee kolok remained in excellent condition and were still packed with flavor. Steaming them before consumption restored their original deliciousness. This experience has convinced me to repeat the process on future visits â ordering several packets to bring a taste of Kuching back to Kuala Lumpur. Teresa Laksa's mee kolok is indeed something special, worth preserving and savoring beyond the borders of Kuching.
The café's location might not boast the most inviting ambiance, nestled between apartments and dimly lit. However, the quality of the food certainly makes up for it. If you're not inclined to dine in, opting to pack the food and enjoy it at your hotel is a...
Read moreThis is truly what they call a hidden gem! Tucked behind Tune Hotel (opposite Hilton) you may access it through the dodgy looking walkway next to Jumanji Bar (got a gorilla statue one), or walk through Tune Hotel entrance to the back door (glass door), then youâll see this little food court (Golden Cafe).
The Laksa broth packs good flavour and rich in spices. Totally not expecting this from a small stall like this. The prawns are fresh and well cooked. The noodles arenât overcooked as well and you can appreciate its chewiness. Approved!
The small vendor is operated by a grumpy looking lady (Ms Teresa) but sheâs actualy a sweetheart! Do say hi to her when you order from her ya! Perfect for midnight supper (I actually found out this place the night before I checkout frm...
Read moreI had teresa laksa last night since it's quite famous around town. I think this laksa could use a bit more heat to bring out more flavour. Nonetheless, it gives a generous portion for RM7 and the prawns were sweet too! I'm quite particular of my laksa though as I prefer those really thin rice vermicellis compared to this but it was good nonetheless. Next time I'm there, I'd probably requests for extra lime. btw for some reason they changed the name to ESA LAKSA not sure whats...
