The cafe has an excellent ambience and the cakes displayed on the shelves were beautifully decorated.

We ordered a waffle, a chocolate cake and a souffle pancake, together with cappuccinos and a chai latte.

I also noticed that they did have single origin filter coffee from the Gayo mountains of Sumatra that is wined processed. I did not see this on the menu, but after inquiry, I ordered a cup. The staff had good knowledge of their beans as well.

The excellent: The environment was delightful, the staff were very friendly and the service was fast. The chocolate cake was moist and decadent. The shop was also very nice to let us try a complimentary orange chocolate cake which was very good.

The good: the cappuccinos were excellently made, however the cups were a bit tall instead of wide which might make it difficult for the barista to set the coffee and pour the design, however this varies from coffee shops so it's not an issue. The sumatran filter coffee was prepared well, it was a tiny bit under extracted for me, but I would say it is still very good, but this is not a coffee review. The carafe used was a black stoneware which I don't prefer, as I like to see the colour of the coffee, usually through a glass or white carafe. The cup was black as well, and had a slight curve to it that allows the aroma to intensify upwards to your nose.

The bad: the souffle pancakes were not as light and fluffy as they should be. It had a slight eggy flavour to the center which shows that the pancake was either undercooked or that the egg was not whipped well. The waffle suffered from the same issue by being a bit dense towards the center, with the taste of the batter remaining. The utensils provided were not cleaned properly and had food stains on them, even after asking...

Minimalistic cafe that serves really great matcha ice cream! Service was fast and staffs were really friendly and helpful. Theres plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. A wide selection of drinks and desserts.

Heres what I recommend: MATCHA ICE CREAM. Try their matcha ice cream! Its really good. We had it in parfait version but you can have it in cone or as an affogato etc. The parfait was nice but when the matcha mixed with the yoghurt on the bottom, it created a weird tasting mixture which was not very pleasant. But the matcha ice cream, cornflakes, strawberry and cone pieces were really delicious.

STRAWBERRY SOUFFLÉ. The soufflé was very eggy and light. Really enjoyed it especially with the strawberry jam which isn’t unpleasantly sour. There were tonnes of strawberries, with a spoonful of cream, strawberry jam and 3 soufflés.

TARO SHORTCAKE. Fresh taro and definitely no artificial flavorings added here as it wasn’t a bright purple and taste wise is very light. The cake was a very light and airy sponge cake. It wasn’t very sweet either which made it really enjoyed.

EARLY GREY OSMANTHUS CAKE. It’s like a basque cheesecake with an almost gooey centre. You can see the cake has earl grey in it and on top is the osmanthus tea jelly. It was creamy, cheesy yet super light and wasn’t overpoweringly sweet.

For drinks we ordered the yuzu yoghurt which was very sour but also quite refreshing. Overall, would love to come back here again to try their other desserts like waffles and...

As regulars to CC Miri, we usually really enjoy the experience of good food and excellent service. Sadly today lunchtime something went horribly wrong with the service - maybe too many temp staff who loooked like they were on their school holidays? Well intended individually, but totally disorganised. As always drinks service is prompt. Dessert came in next, within 10 minutes, which was a surprise. Then half our mains order about 10 minutes after that... OK but what happened to the rest of our order??...ooops forgot! Another 10 minutes (so thats now 30 minutes after we arrived), and then our order was completed with the first dish coming last. Management PLEASE, its great to give the young people an opportunity to work, but for goodness sake train them and supervise them until you know they are competent to serve your customers. Thank you. OK we will give you another chance to see if things have improved, in a couple of weeks, so watch...
