A bird's nest dessert place worth a visit in Penang.
The bird's nest egg tart was pretty good, I like the more biscuit-like crust of the egg tart, it was served warm, and I thought it paired well with the bird's nest in that it gave a bit of extra texture without affecting the flavour.
The coconut jelly bird's nest was a bit basic. I think if there was some filling to the coconut jelly, it would be a more interesting dish.
I also pre-ordered their bird's nest with rose and rock sugar. It's not very sweet, with a pretty strong rose fragrance. I won't say that it's a super tasty dish, but the bird's nest tasted genuine and it was a sufficient serving for the price.
Service was also great. They forgot to update their online menu pricing, which I ordered items based off of, and they honoured the pricing that was on their online menu. It's a very small difference, but at least they readily accepted their mistake instead of trying to push...
Read moreThis is an interesting place to drop in for bird's nest. Even though I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, I would suggest you drop in if you are on the area. The only thing is, it doesn't really have a good descriptive sign at the door. You will likely walk past it if you are not looking for it. The few advertising information are also quite unobtrusive and easily missed. It's a strange situation.
However, if you manage to come in, you will be taken in by its old nostalgic yesteryear design and vibe. Their menu is simple but that makes choosing much easier. Both the dessert I ordered were yummy and cold. Fortunately well made with just a good adequate sweetness to it. I hate super sweet dessert, so to be able to enjoy this without being overwhelmed by sugar was a nice experience. If the weather is hot and you are tired from your walk, this is a good choice for a quiet, cool, relaxing and calming place to have a good...
Read moreQuite pricey but I guess that's how bird nest costs. RM 10 for the egg tart and RM 28 for the tong shui.
The tart with bird nest on it tastes nothing especial as it is just some bird nest on an ordinary egg tart.
The tong shui also tastes pretty average except they serves you will a scope of the bird nest for you to mixing with the tong shui.
I planned to try their bird nest porridge, however I have been informed by the staff that they start selling the porridge after 12pm. Please check with them in advance on the selling time if you are craving for it in case you miss it.
They served us a pot of free flowers tea which smells quite good and flowery.
Not many tables in the restaurant (about 6 if not mistaken) so you may need to queue waiting...
