Congratulations on hiring all foreign workers that can half-arse comprehension inability to convey nor providing solutions

Let me provide context, I ordered the "pici alla carbonara" which is a handmade pasta from your kitchen but unfortunately they ran out of said pasta. Hence I suggested to the server to substitute the farfalle into my carbonara, said server begins to mumble about how farfalle wasn't the best opt and suggested a change to spaghetti.

However, he never mentioned (and mumbling) the entire change of dish into your signature "Prawn and Olive Spaghetti", which wasn't what I wanted to eat. And when its served, I was perplexed bcs that wasn't what I have explained to the server. Which was just substituting the pici alla to spaghetti for the carbonara. He proclaimed later that he had said the necessary (prob through breaths of mumbling to the whimsical fairies but unfortunately I couldn't hear so ¯(ツ)/¯)

When confronted, these reasonings was mustered out of those 5 or 4 that were running the fronts. "you said to go with my (server's) suggestion, ma'am" "if you want to change your dish, it'll be deducted from my (server's) pay" "just try it, its our signature dish. you'll like it."

which honestly I found it to be way saltier than its needed to be.

At one point, I got fed up trying in vain to explain and decided to just eat what's served and get going with my day. Let it be known that none of your servers decided to step in with solution, communicate to understand an issue (?) nor a simple sorry for messing up the order? but they sure remembered to mention on how their pay will be deducted :)))

The cherry on top was finding a piece of wine foil or whatever foil in my pasta, and your server insisted it was prawn's shell. And only took it back to the kitchen after I made a at least 3+ comments insisting it wasn't "shell". Eventually its a taken off from my bill bcs I don't feel like eating anymore as my entire experience is ruined over their emphasis on "paycuts" putting me in a position to only be sorry for them instead of getting a valid solution.

So a word with management or owner, train them better. If you can't train them up to a "fine dine" standard always set a local worker or a local, responsive supervisor/ manager to tackle this language barrier. Brownie points if they have the EQ to make diners happy despite mistakes.

And changing food cuts an employee's pay? I'm not sure what policy you're running on your workers but certainly they're quite fluent in using it as a way to make the diners pity them so we won't make a fuss, seems like they're quite versatile afterall if it jeopardizes their pay

Paying service charges and the severs takes an UNO reverse card and slaps it across your face. With the price you're charging & brand image that you're upholding pls be mindful/ more attentive with the quality of your...

Shame on you, the yard house ! This is the worst experience I have ever had in penang. As a penangites, I love food and always hunts for good food. There are plenty of cafes / restaurants here but no one service was so bad so far.

I just went today with my family. Actually this is my second visits as 1st visit was it grand opening and there’s no food served but only dessert. So we decided to go again today. We ordered 4 drinks (3honey lemons and 1latte) with 4 foods (harissa chicken skewer, 2aglio olios, iberico asam peranakan and 1 starter (potato pave with beef ). My daughter was not feeling well with stomachache so I ask for 1 glass of hot water but the waiter told me they can’t serve the water unless I order 1 bottle of 750ml of acqua panna or San pellergrino mineral water which he pointed to me. I told him that we don’t need that much of water as we ordered our own drinks but just one cup of hot water but he refused.

When ordering the food for my son, I requested aglio olio with non spicy and the same waiter said yes will let the kitchen knows. I highlighted to him again that must be non spicy when he repeated my order before headed to kitchen and he nodded. But when the food came, the aglio olio is with chili and I asked him why spicy and he said this was non spicy but we both can see the chili on the food then he said it’s less spicy. At last he agreed to change for us. Actually this can be avoided if he really pass the message down to kitchen. I’m not sure is it so hard to understand or the waiter he’s not sure the definition of non spicy and less spicy.

While waiting for other foods, my daughter stomach getting more pain and her face turned pale so we decided to go. My husband went to pay the bills and asked for take away the foods. After waiting awhile, a guy who wears coat (the shorter one as I don’t know his name and there’s 2 guys with coat) so I assumed he’s one of supervisor / manager brought my packing but stopped and talked to the other coat guy (discussed on my foods as keeps looking on it) and I got to wait there.

Finally he walked to me and I asked him “what took you so long” and what to discuss for my take away food? He asked me is this 5boxes were your food? I replied yes and he continued “we packed this separately in 5 boxes” I wondered “are you going to mix all these foods together in 1 box then” he immediately talked to the same waiter “do you charges on take away packing” with his serious face (actually I can’t see any smile on his face since I walked in)

The yard house, I paid the bills with the service charges but what I got was a poor service and I totally can’t feel the warmth as the cafe vibes you tried to show visitor. Pls well train your waiter / supervisor and don’t be so rude...

I am very disappointed with my visit and the service to Yard House!!!! I had WhatsApp Yard House 2 days ago on my visit with purpose of ROM photoshooting. And the person in charged replied with confirmation. On the day of my visit, when my photographer started to take photo with camera, the cafe waiter suddenly said we are not allowed to take photo with camera inside the cafe. We only can use handphone camera!!!!???? If i need to use camera I will have to pay extra charges for the camera photoshooting. We asked why the cafe did not mention when I WhatsApp the cafe, the waiter mentioned that only to confirm my reservation!!!!???? I surely will not go for this cafe with the consideration of the service provided and the attitude of the workers in this cafe!

Feedback on the owner replies: There are contracting points with the real situation.

  1. Firstly, I made reservation in WhatsApp for 3 pax with the remarks of ROM photo shooting.
  2. On my day of visit, if my request on the larger table is not appropriate due to peak hour, why you not tell me directly on spot and now only you mentioned? I chose the table because it looked pretty for the photo shooting, but I am not that unreasonable to insist if you explained.
  3. We ordered 2 drinks, 1 coffee and 1 mocktail without meal as we were not hungry and my photographer also did not want to have anything. If there is minimum order for professional camera photo shooting inside your cafe, I would prefer you ask and mention it during the reservation. This is contradict with your reply on no charges, because your worker directly told us that if we use professional camera for photo shooting, you will charge us additional fees on the photo shooting. He did not mentioned we need to order meal or must have minimum order. Instead, you can speak to us for minimum order or to order meals if this is more appropriate to have photo shooting inside. However, your worker did not do so and directly told us that we cannot take photos with professional camera.
  4. We ordered the drinks first and the conflicts happened afterwards. So I actually mentioned that I want to cancel my orders. Again, if you need to charge me for the coffee that already served on table, tell me on spot.

Anyhow, things already happened. Please have clear communication and tnc on any request to prevent conflicts with your...

Fantastic lunch, but disappointing dinner on the same day. Our experience at The Yard House Kitchen CafĂ© & Bar was very mixed—lunch was excellent, but dinner later that same day was disappointing. Lunch (earlier in the day): We truly enjoyed our lunch here. The warm British-style ambience, delicious food, and live music created such a wonderful dining experience. Service was attentive and friendly, and we left feeling very satisfied. It was so good that we decided to return for dinner the same evening. Dinner (later that night): Unfortunately, the dinner service was a disappointment. We had made a reservation for 7pm, but it seemed to have been overlooked. Arriving slightly earlier, we were seated at a small table for two even though there were three of us. The restaurant soon filled up, and although a waiter offered to arrange a side table, it never came—even after we left. Service felt very disorganised. We had requested for our tea to be served only after the meal, but it was not served. We had to remind the manager and then again ask a waitress before it finally came. From what we observed, the staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to manage the crowd effectively. Overall: It’s a pity, as our lunch experience was truly enjoyable and showed how good this place can be. However, the dinner service was disappointing and fell short of expectations. I hope the management can improve service consistency, because the ambience and food are excellent—but the dining experience should be just as reliable.
