I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a diverse array of Indian dishes at a local restaurant, and the experience left me with a range of impressions.
To start off, the Pani Puri was an absolute delight. The burst of flavors from the crispy puris filled with tangy and spicy mint water, along with the sweet and tangy tamarind chutney, created a perfect harmony in each bite. It was a delightful and refreshing way to kick off the meal.
Moving on to the naans, the Garlic Naan was a classic favorite. The fluffy texture and the robust garlic flavor made it a great accompaniment to the other dishes. The Cheese Garlic Naan, on the other hand, added a rich and gooey twist that elevated the experience. The combination of melted cheese and garlic infused into the soft naan was a treat for the taste buds.
The Sichuan Vegetarian Fried Rice brought a hint of fusion to the table. While the spiciness was on point, it unfortunately fell short in delivering a diverse flavor profile. The overall taste seemed somewhat bland, lacking the complexity that one would expect from a Sichuan-inspired dish. It left me wishing for a more vibrant and well-balanced flavor composition.
The Sizzling Fish was a decent addition to the meal, but the choice of fish left me yearning for more. Opting for shark meat could have potentially added a unique and robust flavor, elevating the dish to new heights. Nevertheless, the sizzling presentation and the overall taste were satisfactory.
The Hot and Sour Soup played a safe game, offering a decent rendition of the classic dish. While it didn't necessarily stand out, it provided a comforting and familiar flavor profile.
As for the beverages, the coffee, tea, and mint drink were definite highlights. The robust and aromatic coffee, the soothing tea, and the refreshing mint drink complemented the bold flavors of the meal, creating a well-rounded dining experience.
In conclusion, my culinary adventure through Indian flavors was a mixed bag of delightful surprises and missed opportunities. The Pani Puri and the Naans showcased the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine, while the Sichuan Vegetarian Fried Rice fell short in delivering the expected punch. The choice of fish in the sizzling fish could have been more adventurous, but the Hot and Sour soup provided a comforting touch. Overall, the diverse flavors and textures offered a memorable dining experience, leaving room for improvement in...
Read moreI’ve never left a review before but I just had to after the experience my family and I had here. This is not intended to criticise but more so to improve on their service. We went there during lunch hours so it’s normal that we had to wait outside for about 30 minutes to be seated and we were fine as it’s understandable. When we got to a table everything was fine and the waiters were polite and welcoming but the problem started after we made our order. We ordered 2 chicken briyani, mutton gravy, rice and chicken rasam. We waited for about an hour to only have another waiter tell us that they are out of chicken briyani and they had only 1 left and asked us to choose another briyani, so we said we’ll get the mutton instead. Then 1 chicken briyani, chicken rasam, rice and the gravy came which was not mutton as we ordered but chicken. At this point we were frustrated but remained calm even though we were really hungry. We called one of the staff and told that they got the order wrong and he was clueless and asked who took our order. We told pointed to the guy and they discussed something and the waiter came and said they’ll go and change it. So we were left with half of our orders for another half an hour then finally the gravy came but still no sign of the mutton briyani. Frustrated, my mum asked the waiter why is it taking so long and what happened to the briyani and again he was clueless and asked who said that they were out chicken briyani and then we found out that the other waiter gave out our order to another table, who came later after having us wait for so long and told us to get a different briyani. Finally 15 mins later the briyani came along. When my dad went to pay, they gave the wrong bill and luckily my dad noticed and pointed out to which, again the cashier was clueless and went up to another person to ask. Is this the best type of service the finest Indian restaurant in the city can provide? Please try to come up with a better system for waiters to manage their orders more efficiently. To simply blame the rush hour is not acceptable, I’ve been to many restaurants way busier who have provided excellent service, this was our first to encounter this kind of problem so we just hope that you find a way...

Penang's vibrant culinary scene boasts many Indian restaurants, but having recently dined at both Sardaarji - Flavors of Punjab (visited March 22nd, 2024) and D'Sakra (visited March 23rd, 2024), D'Sakra stands out as a truly exceptional experience. I will advise to avoid Sardaarji - Flavours Of Punjab, like the plague.
From the moment we stepped in, the ambience at D'Sakra captivated us. The tasteful decor exuded a warm and inviting vibe, transporting us to a world of rich Indian culture. But the true star of the show was the exceptional customer service. Our server went above and beyond, patiently explaining each dish in detail and recommending the perfect Pulao Rice to complement our chosen Kadai Chicken. Their attentiveness extended to even offering a complimentary serving of Cheese Garlic Rice, a delightful surprise that added another layer of deliciousness to our meal. It was evident that the staff at D'Sakra prioritizes not just serving food, but crafting a truly memorable dining experience tailored to each guest's needs.
Speaking of food, D'Sakra's culinary artistry is nothing short of phenomenal. The Kadai Chicken was a revelation – bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and leaving us wanting more. The Pulao Rice, recommended by our server, was the ideal accompaniment, fluffy and infused with subtle spices that elevated the entire dish. And the Cheese Garlic Rice, a delightful bonus, was a decadent and flavorful treat. Every bite was a symphony of taste, showcasing the expertise and passion of the chefs. Their Signature Lemon Mint Cooler is a very refreshing beverage that’s a must try to have.
D'Sakra truly lives up to its claim of being "The Finest Indian Restaurant In The City."
