Today was my first visit to this shop. While I was paying for my food at the counter, I asked the lady in the photos where I could order noodles. She informed me that drinks couldn't be ordered here. Perhaps she didn't hear me clearly, so I explained that it was my first time here and I wasn't sure where to order the curry mee. Instead of helping, she raised her voice and pointed in the direction in front of her, saying "那邊! 那邊!那邊!" (which means "Over there! Over there! Over there!").
When it came time to pay, she threw the money onto the table and displayed clear displeasure with my questions. Taken aback, I politely requested that she treat customers with courtesy. In response, she asked me no need to eat here if I found it so difficult (吃到那么困难,不用吃啦!). Not wanting to engage with someone who lacked manners, I chose to walk away.
Subsequently, I attempted to interview a few of the staff members there. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify the manager on duty. The staff members shared with me that the lady in the photos treated them poorly as well and lacked proper manners when...
Read moreI thought this was a buffet-style restaurant, but they only served food from the menu when I stopped by. Ordering from the menu is hard if you don't know Malaysian food because it's just a list of words without explanations or pictures. The staff seemed impatient with me and not very eager to explain what is what. I got Laksa since this is what they recommended. This appears to be a hot broth consisting mostly of vinegar and gritty, bitter spice with noodles and some uncooked lettuce and mint. It was the most unpalatable thing I ever put in my mouth. I also got some Satay Tofu, which tasted like plain tofu. It's really hot and stuffy inside the restaurant and the atmosphere is pretty awkward. I definitely won't be back. I recommend Ee Beng for a budget-friendly vegetarian/vegan buffet, I never paid more than 10 MR for a filling plate full of food there while here, the...
Read moreIf you're a vegetarian, this restaurant offers a great variety of dishes to choose from. You serve yourself: white or brown rice, pile on whatever you like ... salads, cooked vegetables, mock meat dishes, deep fried or curried, There's enough to satisfy most taste buds. Or you may opt for a plate of noodles. Then you pay at the counter: I find the prices reasonable.
The only drawback is space, especially during festive days: the 1st and 15th of the Chinese lunar calendar, Wesak, and the annual Nine Emperor God's Festival, for instance. The locals don't mind sharing their tables. If you value privacy or if you are looking forward to a cosy table for two, this isn't the place for you.
The restrooms are adequate.
As this building was originally designed for residential use, no provision was made for...
