Tori Shokudo — Restaurant in George Town

A great find. If you crave Japanese food and not get your pocket picked then this could be a real option. What's more it comes with honest, down-to-earth service. We ordered three sets and the portion sizes were generous and tasted good. The miso ramen I had was just a slurpy delight and kept me happy till the last drop. The noodles were cooked just right. My wife likes her salmon and she was rightfully content with the salmon teriyaki. My daughter opted for her favourite Katsu curry rice which she devoured with joy. Now just not to make it too one sided here are a couple of quibbles. The salad that comes as part of the set is a bit of a cop out. Surely the management can offer something else. And secondly, the pork in the miso soup could be a tad better. But overall we were happy campers. The boss is attentive and takes pride in his establishment. It shows. We'll be back for...

Really love their food! It was one of the places in Penang that we came back twice (and still planned to go back) just to try their other menus. We accidentally found this place when we were strolling around looking for food to try. This place was not that obvious since it looked 'modest', we almost walked pass this place...but after we went in that we liked the ambience at once. It was small yet bright & comfortable. We ordered Buta Yakiniku Don Set & Braised Pork Set and both were really good! Next time we went there, we ordered Buta Japanese Curry & Shokudo Kubba Set which were delicious! Nice little Japanese restaurant in the heart of Georgetown. We came across this restaurant and come to try out. They serve japanese food with some other cousine as well. When we are here we are greeted by a gentlemen waiter, which provide a good service. I love that they have human ordering, which is better. I personally dislike the scan-to-order system.

Their food is good! I am not expert in Japanese food but all food meet and exceed my expectation. i highly recommend their ramen. The price is in reasonable too, similar to other restaurant around the area, and might be cheaper than some restaurant too.

The environment is simple yet cozy, and we did enjoy the meal. Looking forward to come back to try...
