This is a Large Place, Air-Conditioned and renovated to look like a Higher End Atas Chinese Restaurant 酒楼 Style. Not much customers at 3.40pm on a Friday Afternoon.
The Main Entrance Staff is a Young Chinese Chap who is Very Friendly and Welcoming. There is another Lady however who looked like she's from Myanmar? The way she behaved towards the other Staffs gave me the impression she is the Supervisor of this place, and she always had a Permanent Angry Scowl 臭脸 on her Face.
She was the one who handled the Cashier Duty when it was time for me to pay, and while she was never Rude to me, she just had a Permanent 臭脸 on her face and I never saw a Single Smile from her. Not a Comfortable Vibe as a Customer for sure.
One thing to note is that I feel the Table feels a Tad Higher when I was seated down. Not a lot, but Noticeably Higher than Usual. As I browsed through their Menu, I also feel that most of the Food Prices all seem to be on the Higher Side.

When it was served up, there was a Very Nice Baked Sesame Aroma. There are 4 Pieces and each of them are about the Size of a Standard Marie Biscuit. Its a Thin Layer of Yam Paste that is flanked by 2 Layers of Green Flour Pastry and I don't taste any Green Tea at all despite the name.
The Bite Texture is Soft, like a Soft CNY Biscuit Kueh Texture. The Main Taste Profile is Roasted Sesame. This is followed closely by the Yam Paste which while not Very Yammy, contributes more towards the Slightly Gritty Yam Mouth Texture.
The Whole Thing Very Unmistakeably tastes like a Kueh that you'd eat for CNY. Sweetness is Delicate and Not Overly Sweet. If you like the Taste of Sesame and Yam packaged in a Very CNY Type of Pastry, you will most likely like this too.
D701 小仙女养颜益气汤 Angel Beauty Soup = RM38.00
This came in a Huge Bowl and I measured the Actual Amount of Soup Given. If we make use of the Small Bowl and Metal Ladle that was provided, that means: 1 Small Bowl = 7 Metal Ladle of Soup Entire Big Bowl = 3.5 Small Bowls of Soup
Although a Big Bowl of Soup, there are not much Meat within. Brownish in Colour, it is 清甜 Savoury with a Noticeable Herbal Undertone. I also feel that Lotus Roots played a Very Big Part in the Soup Base.
Not Oily, Not Overly Salty, but also Not Very Atas Restoran Quality type of Taste, I'd say this is like a Slightly Elevated Level of Chicken Soup. Not easily replicated at Home although also not a Very Complex Level of Soup either.
Amount of Chicken Meat felt Extremely Stingy. Compared to the Photo on the Menu which looked like at least Half a Chicken, I don't think there's enough here for even 1 Chicken Drummy. 我看连小仙女都吃不饱.
Luckily the Meat was Not Dry and Soaked Quite Well in the Soup. Acceptably Tender and doesn't taste Overly Chickeny. Other than Chicken, there are a Couple of Herbs, including a Cut Head of a Ginseng but not a Full One. This Ginseng tasted Slightly Better Quality than the Cheaper sort of China 长白山 sort of Ginseng. Not Overly Ginsengy. I liked Goji Berries are quite Generous.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM12.90 (S$3.90) for the Jiangnan Green Tea Biscuits, its about S$1.00 per Biscuit which although not Very Cheap, was still a Reasonable Price for the Quality.
They do have an Atas Look and Presentation and a Delicate Light Taste. Not Overly Sweet, I reckon they would work perfectly with a Brew of Chinese Tea.
At RM38.00 (S$11.60) for this Angel Beauty Soup is not worth the Money. I have no issues with the Overall Soup Quality. What I feel isn't worth is the Stingy Amount of Meat given. I feel the lack of meat at this Price Point hurt the Dish for me.
I hope that Myanmar Lady Staff at least Smile a little. As a Customer Facing Staff, Whole Day give a 死人臭脸 isn't a Good Look you want to portray.

Read moreAfter dining here for quite some time, their standards remained consistent. I frequently dine here on weekends after 2pm. It is usually less crowded at this timing, and staffs were attentive. This shop is quite new in the area and they serve pretty good handmade noodles and soups. Their noodles are chewy, although their menu states aglio olio, do not expect the western style.
My usual order is rice wine chicken mee sua. It has a strong taste of rice wine that adds a little sweetness to the broth. It is a healthy and well balanced bowl of goodness. The chicken that comes with it is super tender and succulent. The meesua doesn't cling to each other, and it is not soggy. It is a hearty and tummy warming bowl of meesua. Somewhat like confinement food. Highly recommended for people with low energy. It is mind blowing how something so simple can be so delicious.
Salted egg yolk egg plant is slightly crisp, with a softer texture once you put it in your mouth. It is amazing how the salted egg complements the tasteless egg plant so well, slightly spicy if you happen to bite on the chilli padi. Together with the laksa leaf, it is an explosion of aroma and flavours for your taste buds.
Ordered their signature coffee to try, very aromatic. I generally prefer less acidic coffee, so this was to my liking. Well roasted coffee beans that has a hint of smokiness. More towards the bitter side. I ordered it less sweet. The after taste of the coffee lingers slightly in the mouth, like kopiko sweet.
My partner ordered chicken aglio olio, it was infused with wok hei. The use of aromatics in the stir fried noodles enhances the peppery taste of the noodles. Complemented with the chewy noodles, he enjoyed every mouthful of the flavours and texture.
The environment here is traditional contemporary. Beautifully designed and complementing decorations.
Ambience here is great! As the entrance is small, you can sit inside and do people watching. Although outside is very noisy and fast paced, it felt like time slowed down while seated inside. They have Chinese pop songs in the background
Their hygiene level was OK. Didn't see any houseflies flying around. Their tables are always clean and wiped. Their are some small flies around, but that is inevitable. It is around in almost all food shops here. They are generally the better...
Read moreThis is honestly the first time I’ve struggled to finish my food, not because of the portion size. I don’t think I’m a picky eater, as reported by my mom, friends, and boyfriend. In fact I’d say I’m rather adventurous. However, the 黄酒鸡汤面线, 鸡汤拉面, and 金银蛋苋菜 were supposed to be a safe bet, but instead took my tastebuds on an adventure. The kind of adventure where you’re chased by savanna lions and then ride a spiny anteater before diving into a deep whirlpool of despair. Totally uncalled for.
The mee sua was way too strong on the sugar. It was the first time I actively tried to avoid drinking the soup in any sort of noodle dish. The veggie had bits of eggshell AND sand in it. And the salted egg was uncooked. Can you even eat salted egg uncooked? The salmonella probably died in the curing process right? The chicken soup tasted kind of like… they didn’t wash the pot for a week. A bit stale and overall just dish-watery.
The redeeming factor of all the food was that the chicken was honestly very fresh and sweet. Good chicken.
I was going to at least give them props for the customer service, because the staff was nice and polite. That was until they were clearing the table next to mine and I distinctly heard “吃成这样喔?他们吃成这样喔??” several times.
I wonder if I’ll get judged too for leaving food behind. Even though it’s because I genuinely hated it.
Would not...
