It’s always an excitement to hunt for a good Indian banana leaf rice , while most of the Banana leaf rice restaurant is closed on Deepavali 🪔, we found Bala’s Banana Leaf to be fully operational… ohh yeaaa!! It’s Muslim friendly too.

After queuing for 20 minutes , we finally got to enjoy the..

1. chicken 🍗 Biryani with a hard boiled egg fragrantly and wonderfully spiced/cooked with rice.. complimented with gravy like curry chicken, dhal and sweet chilli 🌶. we love it, the aroma is unmissable, addictive and keep you going on (eating) we recommend to add more curry gravy and dhal , wave 🌊 your plate.. paradise in your mouth 🏝

2. lamb curry 🐐 the lamb is soft , tender … amazingly spiced as well. must try for this 😋

3. fried squid 🦑 freshly fried with masala !!! It’s hot , and crispy …. Plus the squid meats is tender , oh heavens! -must try 💪

Tips- eat with your hands, it will max out 💯 the flavours… finger lickin awesome 💪

Been regular customer for the last 5 years and i must say that the service then was ok, however yesterday i came with my friend and we both came separately in 2 different cars, everyone knows how difficult to find parking at any time at that location, luckily i found parking and went in, there was no tables available so i told what seems to be the head of waiters that we need a table for 2 , waited for about 5 minutes till a table was cleared and he lead me to it, the moment i sat another waiter came and asked what i want to order, i told him my friend is joining soon maybe 5 minutes. He left and another waiter came within less than a minute and asked me to go upstairs because i am occupying a table and i didn't order (looks like there were few customers at the entrance) HOW RUDE, HOW VULGAR AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Is this how regular loyal customers are treated now adays?!!!! if i wanted to go upstairs i would have went there from the beginning. Anyway i ordered and my friend joined within 2 minutes and ordered. the food so tasteless and i took only few bites from the plate!!!! who is the chef? the food quality deteriorated significantly and trust my the food prices are not as it used to be, it's not only over priced but expensive. I am done with this place and if the owner thinks to save few bucks for the food raw materials then good luck. As for the rude cheap labor waiters at least let them have a proper standard of cleanness and...

Bangsar have a few popular banana leaves curry rice restaurants. Thought I’d give this place a try. Located at Lucky Garden, Bangsar at a corner shoplot fronting Bangsar Village at Lorong Ara Kiri 1.

Ambience was nice and airy. All tables and seatings were at the side.

We ordered the banana leaf rice albeit it didn’t came in one whole banana leaf but a small squarish leaf cut to fit inside a plate. The side dishes came in a separate aluminium plate.

We ordered fried chicken and fried fish to go with our banana leaf rice.

The portions were generous but most of the food were rather cold and less than warm. The rice was not even warm, the curry was less than warm, the side dishes were cold and oily. The chicken was ok but a bit small in size and the fish tasted rather fishy, as in less than fresh.

The teh tarik tasted surprisingly good with just the right amount of sweetness and tea aroma.

I guess the dishes were a bit cold because we went slightly after 2pm. For best dining experience, best to go between 11.00am - 12.30pm to ensure you get the best quality. But of course, this is just my personal opinion.
