With the catchy name, it happens that the staple food sold in the store is closely related to the takeaway and dough. "Takeaway package" is believed to be one of the everyday words that everyone is very familiar with for Malaysians. It has the meaning of take away and take out. The word "packed" will naturally appear in the mind when people see it. Therefore, in addition to the takeaway that we all know, it also represents one of the important steps in bag making process. You'll find restaurant sign on the roadside of Petaling Street that looks more old and retro and labeled. Although there is a neon sign with a package restaurant sign next to the door, it looks trendy and yet simple and nostalgic. Customers can have a sense of contrast in sensory experience as soon as they step into the restaurant, which is very interesting. This is the modern mantou that been waited for in Kuala Lumpur which contains stuffing steamed buns with delicious yielding sumptuously rich, satisfyingly Asian flavours. Each bao is loaded enough to be a meal on its own with the price range from RM16 - RM19 each. The signature Bao is sake-braised pork belly, chunky and clean-tasting slices of succulent porcine with sweet-savoury in comforting Oriental fashion, laced lightly with lemongrass for aromatic appeal, rounded out with roasted peanuts and pork lard for crunch, with preserved mustard greens and coriander for herbal balance.

The latest opening in Petaling Street is well-deserving of the hype. Da Bao is a funky Chinese restobar with a lively, contemporary setting serving steamed buns with beautiful ensembles of intriguing ingredients, yielding sumptuously rich, satisfyingly nuanced Asian flavours. 👲🏻🥢 My delightful gastronomic journey starts off with their Spicy Chicken Bao. Each bao is fully loaded enough to be a meal on its own. Da Bao's triumph rests in each recipe's construction: Buns with the right taste, thickness and texture to complement thoughtfully conceived combinations like buttermilk Korean fried chicken, smooth and tender thigh meat with a scrumptious batter, slathered with chilli garlic mayo, crowned with mango slaw and purple cabbage for a juicy, uplifting fruity tang. A classic old fashioned mantou, which was soft and fluffy was the packaging that yielded this magnificent beast. It was able to hold the weight of its contents and was able to soak up the sauce without much problems. Up next was their Lamb Rice Bowl comprising of slow-cooked mutton rendang, pickled bunga kantan, Japanese sushi rice, charred broccoli, ajitama egg & edamame. Succulent chunks of mutton saturated in mellow spiced rendang for a creation that tastes traditionally Malaysian, albeit with a revitalised edge. Portion was fairly little for the price charged, however the old school Chinese Takeout packaging compensated for it 😉🥡

Da Bao Restobar is a fantastic spot that perfectly blends modern vibes with traditional Chinese flavors. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this trendy eatery is the go-to place for creative dishes, delicious cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere.

The star of the menu is, of course, the bao—soft, pillowy buns filled with a variety of mouthwatering options like crispy pork belly, soft-shell crab, or spicy tofu. Each bao is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The rest of the menu offers equally delightful dishes with modern twists on classic Chinese flavors.

The cocktail selection is another highlight. Their signature drinks are crafted with unique ingredients, perfectly complementing the food while adding to the overall experience. The lychee martini is a standout, refreshing and flavorful.

The ambiance at Da Bao Restobar is lively and stylish, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a casual date. The service is friendly and efficient, with staff happy to recommend menu items based on your preferences.

If you’re looking for a fun and flavorful dining experience in KL, Da Bao Restobar is highly recommended. Great food, creative drinks, and a trendy vibe—it’s a...
