To be honest during COVID lockdown times with strict SOP this place was great.

Don't get me wrong, the ambiance is good, the music before 10pm sets a suitable vibe with the lights, drinks... It was a full package.

Fast forward to May 2022 until today August 2022: the staff just don't care anymore about customer service, especially downstairs.

I had a reservation for a double date and all was supposed to be fine. I walk in with my male friend and there was 2 guys downstairs who acted and looked like cheap gangsters and didn't even ask if we had an RSVP, one of them just said in an angry voice "where you go ? No tables available" I was about to tell him that I had a reservation but his tone, facial expression and body language were too dirty. Not tough or authoritive as good bouncers... Nooo. It was just ugly and dirty. Then both me and my friend decided that it wasn't worth going there. So we went outside but our ladies insisted since it was already 10pm and they were looking forward to it. So we walk in again with the ladies and that same guy who raised his voice at us; said to us (the men) "you together?", I didn't reply, because his tone was just dirty. So he didn't allow us to go in but he said the ladies can go upstairs.

Ofcourse ladies went upstairs trying to checkout the place. 2 minutes later, they came down and told us that the place was half full and probably our table was one of the empty tables. I was still uncomfortable with this behaviour so we all agreed to go to PS150 next door instead. And honestly, we received the most welcoming greetings from ps150 staff and they took care of every detail even though they didn't have seats, they asked us politely if it's okay to wait at the bar or smoking area as one of the tables was settling their bill.

Never going back to G-string again and when their name comes up I warn people about what happened.

Honestly, they need to hire good bouncers and train their staff on customer service. This is not how you run a business in a vibrant...

I planned a staycation with my girlfriends and was looking for the perfect spot to take them out for a night about town. I found G-String KL on an online listicle of new bars that opened in KL in 2021. It was a Thursday night, and I called two days prior to make a booking. Firstly, the lady who took my reservation was curt on the phone. She even said I couldn't make a booking past 9pm and that if we weren't there by 9.10pm, she'd have to give our table away. I agreed and even thought, wow this must be a great place with people lining up to get in.

When we walked in, they didn't even bother asking if we had a reservation. It wasn't too crowded and even after an hour, there still weren't many people. Seemed like the lady on the phone was 'hyping up' the place to make it seem more happening than it is. We ordered our drinks, all the while admiring the deco which admittedly, is the only good thing about G-String KL.

Now, remember that this place is only a few doors away from PS150, which to me, is the epitome of a fantastic speakeasy bar. G-String KL has a LOT to live up to and I'm sorry to say that they don't match up to one's expectations of a great night out. G-String's cocktails were weak and presented poorly. For the price quoted on the menu, I expect lots of alcohol and a tasty, memorable drink. I got neither. My friends weren't impressed either.

Someone else mentioned the bad service so I won't go into that. But needless to say, the waiters acted like they were doing us a favour by getting the mediocre drinks and food safely to the table.

I'm writing this to say I'm sick of establishments opening up and pretending to be something they're not. Don't bother hyping up your place if you can't live up to the standards. And most importantly, be courteous to the people who call you up to make reservations. They are your customers and you will lose them if you carry on this way.

Safe to say, I'm not going back to G-String KL; a place that clearly favours style over substance. Not my...

Overall, all the waiters and one chinese girl is nice and good to customer. EXCEPT for one guys with tattoos, dont know if he is the boss/supervisor or what who came out after the chinese girl submitted the order, came and tell usually they dont serve Non-Alcholic drink , with some distinguished face towards us, WOW. The idea of us getting there to enjoying some music is turned out to be a BAD IDEA. This guy ruined it.

We were speechless and dont know how to react, while acting cool to keep the vibe enjoying the night with all of us who really long time not having a night out as some busy with work and some living abroad . Then that guy come again n put few wet umbrellas beside us while doing that face again make us like wow. So racist ? Is it because some of us is wearing turban that night ? So i can tell that this place only accept people to mabuk2 and not sober one ?? Been to many beach club oversea but non of them had make distinguished towards me while im ordering some coke or juice 🙄

However, this place has good music to chill out, but maybe we were just not welcomed there. We ended the night at somewhere to enjoy the music and didn’t judge us for being sober ☺️

Last time being here with some drinking friend no issue at all, and with good variety of food, now just limited korea food and limited drink, mocktail also didn’t serve on weekend. And yahh, us ordering juice and coke also not welcomed. Fyi, we order big portions of food also along with drink. Make us quite sad to be turned out...
