I have visited so many restaurants in malaysia and very impressed with their services sadly there is one restaurant that does not reflect the high quality found in malaysia. Perhaps I expected better. My review is totally from my perspective as a tourist. I also found so many people happy with them. I searched google maps for an above average rating place with a good atmosphere. It was the lunch hour and expected to be crowded. The waiter placed me at a table and I requested to be moved to a more quiet area as it was busy. I found that there was a customer who was about to finish and they told me to wait and they will move me to his seat once he is finished. Sadly they gave it to other customers that came after me. I thought it was unfair for someone to skip the que particularly I came before them. I did tell the staff that I will give a poor review and they accepted my honesty. The next thing was that they misunderstood my order and gave me an incorrect item. I think it is because of my weak understanding of Malaysian language. In communication it might be suitable for locals but perhaps it is not the best for tourists. To be honest I didn’t mind the misunderstanding as it happens with tourists. The staff did however apologize for the misunderstanding and corrected my order. I explained that they should not promise a table if they can’t give it to me and perhaps got a bit irritated with me. The lamb was good. I wanted something spicy and it was perfect. It wasn’t hot but it was warm. Perhaps suited to those who don’t eat hot food. The noodles were good too. I think that they can improve on their services. Malaysia has set a very hight standard so I hope they...
Read moreHameediyah at Semua House: A Taste of Penang, with a KL Price Tag My recent visit to Hameediyah at Semua House for a nasi campur ayam ros was an interesting experience, especially given its famous Penang heritage. First off, let's address the price. It's definitely on the pricier side compared to what you might expect for nasi kandar, even for a portion of ayam ros. While I appreciate the quality ingredients, the cost does make it less of an everyday mamak haunt and more of a once-in-a-while treat. In terms of taste, the ayam ros nasi campur was almost uncannily similar to what I remember from their Penang branch. The rich, aromatic curries and the flavorful ayam ros were on point, truly delivering that authentic Hameediyah taste that makes them so renowned. So, rest assured, the culinary DNA is still very much intact. However, the ambience is where it significantly diverges from its Penang roots. The Semua House outlet feels less like a bustling, traditional mamak and more like a modern, almost fine-dining nasi kandar spot. The setting is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, which is a plus for comfort, but it loses some of that rustic, lively "mamak vibe" that many associate with nasi kandar joints. Overall, if you're craving the authentic taste of Hameediyah nasi kandar in KL and don't mind paying a bit more for a more refined dining environment, this is a solid choice. Just manage your expectations if you're looking for that classic, no-frills...

This was our first visit to this Masjid India outlet, and it turned out to be quite a delightful experience. The location is superb, as you could either enter from inside the Semua House, or from the Jalan Masjid India side.
My wife had some shopping to do, hence I volunteered to wait for her at Hameediyah. Since it was still early, I sat at the terrace table overlooking the bustling street, while slowly sipping my teh tarik and day dream a little bit. Before I knew it, my wife was done with her shopping, and was ready for brunch!
Both of us ordered the Nasi Kandar with Onion Chicken, or Ayam Bawang, which were simply delicious and appetizing. The restaurant was quite empty, so we got some ample choices where to sit. We ended up sitting at a table against a wall with some writings on it, which made for a good reading for me. Apparently, it told the story of the humble beginnings of the Rawther family, and how the four of them started the nasi kandar business in Penang. The rest, as they say, is Hameediyah history...
At the main cashier counter, I noticed some old black and white photographs nicely arranged on the wall. I was told by the friendly manager that those were photographs of his relatives and ancestors, who had continued on the good works of the Early Rawthers to make the Hameediyah brand what...
