The first place I went to when in KL to have lunch after waiting the long 3 years to finally fly again. So far still the best Japanese ramen chain in pavilion, Kuala Lumpur!
Every time I visit KL, this is my go to place for ramen and gyoza. A never miss! The taste of the broth reminds me of Japan when I was there. Rich, creamy and aromatic broth with smooth silky noodles! Flavours are outstanding. I recommend getting:
KARAKA SPECIAL. This ramen is a tonkotsu broth with spicy miso paste. You get to choose your level of spiciness from normal to level 3 and the preferred hardness level of your ramen noodles. If you love spicy, I think level 2 is the best choice. The broth is super creamy but just had the right amount of fattiness. The spiciness really helps to neautralise the fattiness too. It's served with charsiu, boiled eggs, bamboo shoots and seaweed.
IPPUDO KURO SPECIAL. This was a miso paste broth with garlic oil and black pepper. The noodles are thicker and curly compared to straight ramen noodles. It's also served with charsiu, boiled eggs, bamboo shoots and seaweed. However, the charsiu is more charred giving it a whole different depth of flavour.
SHIRO SPECIAL. A tonkotsu broth with straight ramen noodles. For those who want to try the basic tonkotsu ramen. The broth is super creamy, rich and has the right amount of fattiness.
NIKU SOBA SPECIAL. A refreshing bowl of soba noodles with pork belly. For those who prefer a less fatty and creamy broth option.
DASHIMAKI EGG ROLL. Dashimaki tastes similar to normal tamagoyaki but has a more umaminess. The best part is that they topped it with creamy mentai.
GYOZA. Either you choose the normal gyoza or the lasagna gyoza, they are amazing and won't disappoint. The skin is very soft and smooth, the filling is generously filled with meat.
It can get very busy where you'll have to wait for half an hour just to get a seat or it could be quiet. The restaurant looks amazing, decorated with ramen bowls in the front entrance. Very nice interior and family friendly. You can choose to sit inside or outside. The staff and service were amazing and quick. Quality is...
Read moreAfter a hiatus of six years, I found myself once again at Ippudo in Pavilion KL, and the experience left me with a flood of cherished culinary memories. My affection for their impeccably prepared ramen, particularly the pork-based varieties, had not waned over the years.
During this visit, we decided to savor three remarkable dishes from their menu. The first was the Shiromaru Special, a bowl of tonkotsu broth perfection, adorned with a half-boiled egg and succulent cuts of pork belly and loin. Each bite of the pork slices was a revelation in flavor and tenderness, melting in your mouth with every savory indulgence.
Next in line was the Akamaru Special, a close cousin to the Shiromaru, but distinguished by the addition of special miso and garlic paste. This subtle twist elevated the dish to new heights, infusing it with a unique and delightful complexity of flavors.
Finally, we couldn't resist starting our meal with the Seared Salmon Roll featuring Mentaiko as an appetizer. The combination of freshly baked salmon and the creamy mentaiko was nothing short of exceptional, creating a harmonious balance of textures and tastes that tantalized our palates.
It brings me immense pleasure to report that our dining experience at Ippudo once again exceeded our expectations. We savored each dish with delight, and it's safe to say that we loved all the culinary creations we ordered. If you're in the vicinity, I highly recommend exploring the culinary wonders that Ippudo...

First off, this is a review on their food delivery and not dine-in
Having dined in their outlets across multiple countries, their quality for dine-in is not in question. But how do they fare in a take away
Service: We placed the order via a third party app which was pretty straight forward.
Packaging: Ordinary take away boxes which were labelled individually.
Kuro Shoyu (RM 31.80)
Taste: Topped with tender thinly sliced grilled pork belly, the noodles was cooked in a fragrant chicken broth and garnished with crunchy aromatic garden fresh vegetables and bamboo shoots further enhancing its flavour. Finished with a sous-vide poached egg. What more could one ask for?
Price: Reasonable
Wagyu Bun (RM 20.14)
Taste: Though we didn’t really get the melt in your mouth effect, the meat was flavourful with the pickles providing it a refreshing crunch and completed with a melted slice of cheese.
Price: Reasonable
Pork Bun (RM 9.54)
Taste: The pork was a lot more tender in comparison to the beef and equally flavourful with the crisp vegetables delighting the diner with each bite
Price: Reasonable
Recommended? Though it wasn’t as good as our din-in experience, this restaurant is still one of our regular go-tos even in a take away
