There's good food to be found everywhere in Malaysia even in the most unexpected places. This restaurant is located off Jalan Ipoh and at the end of a residential road. The menu is less ambitious than many other places but as they say - less is more!
Every dish we tried was very good except for the fish head mihun which was just above average. The braised pork belly mee hoon was nicely fried and not overly greasy or wet; fried chicken wings came with a crunch KFC would be proud of; fried sweet potato leaves decent; and Thai style tofu good too. Now, the fish head mihun. We asked for more meat in the mihun and they didn't disappoint. The broth was milky. It is not bad although I have tasted better. But I did expect it to be outstanding since the name of the restaurant screams fish head mihun! Overall, the food served here is delicious and has a clean taste without being too salty or greasy.
The restaurant is well ventilated and exrremely clean. You can peek into the (almost) open kitchen and be confident the food is prepared with a high standard of hygiene. Service is brisk too. The bill was reasonable - RM33 per head.
After your lunch, go opposite to the nice Chinese temple and pray for a better Malaysia (if you are a Taoist or Buddhist) 🙏! Our...
Read moreWe visited this place for breakfast on a weekday, so there was ample free on-street parking available, and the service was swift with our food being served promptly. It is situated directly across from the 闗帝廟 (聚星堂). The establishment is fairly clean and well-ventilated, although it tends to get quite warm. They offer a self-service condiments station, but the garlic isn't fresh, and the cili padi is already dried up.
For our meal, we ordered the Fish Head Noodle (Pine Fish), Hokkien Mee, and Shrimp Roll, all in small portions. The total bill amounted to RM33.50 (excluding beverages). The Fish Head Noodle was decent, albeit slightly salty, while the Pine Fish had a fishy odour and many bones. The Hokkien Mee was acceptable, neither exceptional nor subpar, and the Shrimp Roll was passable at best. The portion sizes were reasonable considering...
Read moreOverall experience: This noodle stall opposite a temple is a casual and local spot. We came mainly for the fish head noodle and also tried their pan mee. The place is simple but clean.
Food: Although the menu listed it as fish head noodle, do expect it to be served with boneless fish slices instead. The broth was light, creamy, and not too strong—just nice. The pan mee came in a clear soup with crispy anchovies. It was light and clean, though it would have been better if it included daun kayu manis, which is often a signature touch. The stir-fried sweet potato leaves were cooked with less oil, which we appreciated. Overall, all the dishes were moderately decent.
Service: Service was quick and smooth. Food arrived hot, and staff were attentive.
Cost: Moderately priced and fair for the portion...
