Jerry G’s — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

My mom was speaking highly of this place as she's friends with the owner, so we decided to give it a try since mom is down in KL for a short holiday. Was shocked when seeing the prices on the menu, but gave the benefit of doubt thinking it'll be good. The only thing that was good was the Focazza & Nachos. The rest was rather bland, and overly priced.

The Chinese Claypot Chicken Rice smelt very burnt when it arrived, even my brother in-law across the table could smell it. Called the staff to check on it, and she said "it's supposed to be like that" without even actually taking a look or taking it back to the kitchen to check with the chef.

There was quite a number of mosquitoes too, and the music was rather noisy and not suited for a family dining experience. Will have to consider more than twice if we were to try this...

Had my first supper the other day. The thosai with mutton and minty sauce was good. Mutton was moist and tender paired with the sauce. Was about to give it a 5 star. Good first impression.

So I decided to give it another try, to my surprise their mushroom carbonara was bland and barely had any mushroom. Not creamy nor flavourful but tasted like milk and spaghetti.

Hence the 3 stars. Will think twice before coming back as the food quality and taste vary too drastically. Not sure if there are different chefs. But my last impression is not a pleasant one.

And to add on the price is on the higher side; I would expect more quality and better tasting food.

Service was really really good - and the waiters were pleasant. However....the food was, in my opinion, quite average. I had the croissant with scrambled eggs and the turkey ham. It was sweet and smaller than I had expected it to be. I imagined that it would be savory, so it being sweet was out of the ordinary. My wife had the aglio olio with chicken - which wasn't bad but a tad dry. came with a generous helping of parmesan cheese though. The environment is really nice to just hang out and i would likely have coffee and cake here. The prices are not cheap for the quality of food you get unfortunately - I am comparing to the likes of Antipodean & Breakfast...
