Old establishment in TTDI

Those who live in TTDI or surrounding areas will know about Yong Len, a typical Chinese hawker style kopitiam in this affluent residential area. Always packed with hungry breakfast crowds especially weekends, I only got to come for the first time recently 😅

A popular restaurant for hungry patrons to satisfy their cravings for the usual Chinese fares such as prawn noodle and CKT, I finally got to try them.

◾Nasi Lemak packet - national breakfast for all Malaysian alike, the rice was wrapped together with accompanying sambal and a quarter of egg in banana leaf. Enough to satisfy a small eater. ◾prawn mee - or Hokkien mee in Penang, this is one dish that the restaurant is famous for. The broth was brimming with sweetness from long time boiling of prawn heads & shells, and the spiciness was just right for me. However, the ingredients could be more - I could hardly find kangkung, the pork meat was OK, I prefer my prawns to be bigger instead of small (and more), while the absence of egg made me cringed. They can do better... ◾char kuey teow - while the flavour was good and wok hei was there... It missed the quintessential cockles, no prawns (fish cake just didn't cut it). I'll stick to my regular stall ◾Kopi and teh were OK though.. but not kaw enough IMHO

Overall a nice kopitiam to drop by for breakfast if you're in the neighbourhood or nearby, but the food quality to me was ordinary without...

New Yong Len Restaurant in TTDI is one of those rare gems that truly captures the charm of authentic Malaysian street food—all under one roof. I’ve been coming here for years, and the variety never fails to impress. Whether you’re craving a hearty bowl of curry mee, a plate of char kuey teow bursting with wok hei, or a comforting bowl of prawn mee, this place delivers every time. Each stall has its own loyal following, and it’s easy to see why.

My personal favourite has to be the prawn mee—rich, aromatic broth with just the right kick of spice, topped with fresh prawns and tender pork slices. The curry mee is another must-try; it’s creamy without being overwhelming, and the sambal adds that addictive depth of flavour. For something lighter, the wantan mee stall serves perfectly springy noodles with smoky char siew, while the chee cheong fun is silky smooth and generously drenched in sweet sauce and sesame seeds.

What I really love about New Yong Len is the nostalgic kopitiam vibe—bustling with regulars, friendly hawkers shouting out orders, and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed Hainan coffee in the air. Service is quick even during the morning rush, and every visit feels like a true local dining experience. If you’re in TTDI and want to sample some of KL’s best-loved street food classics without hopping from stall to stall, this is definitely the...

This is a coffee shop located in TTDI area of Kuala Lumpur.

The coffee shop has multiple Chinese food stalls.

Setup is simple.

A few of the stalls serve fantastic food. The Prawn Mee served here is highly recommended. The soup is just rich, sweet and tasted fantastic. The chicken rice stall is another recommendation. The Rice is fragrant and the Roast Pork is great.

Food portions are reasonable.

The usual coffee shop drinks are available.

Cleanliness is acceptable.

Service is reasonable and fast. During peak periods, waiting time may be longer.

Prices are reasonable.

Reasonable public washroom is available. Caution shybe taken when using this washroom as it is usually wet.

Handicapped patrons on wheelchairs with some assistance can patronize this place.

Parkings are roadside parkings. With numerous food outlets and offices, getting a parking space may need some patience.

24-05-2024 : Stalls remained unchanged. Food portions and quality maintained too. Prices has increases slightly but still reasonable. Still enjoy the Prawn Noodles.

09-02-2025 : Still very popular. Enjoyed a meal of a Curry Chee Cheong Fun with Yong Tofu...

Has been years since I ate here. Still as crowded as always. We were lucky to get a car park straight away. Had to share the table since we do not want to wait. Food came at no time. Tried the fried koay teow with chicken egg and it was above average. Had all the essential ingredients. Not too oily, right saltiness but lack 'wok hei'. The popular option is with duck egg but duck egg is not really my favourite. At lunch hour on Sat, the wantan noodle was almost sold out. Managed to get the plain dry noodle with a bowl of pork wantan. Ran out of other ingredients. It was not bad. Not spingy noodle but kind of old school taste. Soup was good too. We also tried a plate of mixed BBQ sausage with roast chicken (RM15 without rice) from the chicken rice shop. It tasted average. The prawn noodle seems to be the popular choice in this shop. There is a stall selling local delicacies and buns too. Coffee was good. Service was fast.
