I would give the food 4 stars since it reminded me the sangria and food I used to enjoy when I was in Spain/Portugal but unfortunately the service that my group had to endure was not acceptable.
We made reservations for a busy Sunday in advance only to find out that our reserved table was given away to another group of a different demographic than ours. We were asked to be seated at a table which was of a different theme of the place and we were further unsettled when we were informed this was the best they could do.
As much the staff there apologised saying that they were overwhelmed, the differential treatment felt clear. The matter had to be escalated to the manager to sort things out, which was still not good enough.
They tried to seat us in the middle of a busy path as well, with a different setup, which would be uncomfortable. They then promised to compensate with drinks and another better table. We probably waited an additional 4X minutes from our reservation time.
When our table was ready, it was not really the best seat either. By the electricity room, store room (with the door open - not really a fancy view), facing the toilets, in front of an open stove. People were just walking in and out of the place. Where's the crowd control? We are trying to compromise and this was the so-called best they could do :(
Table service tends to differ from one person to another. We had a plate that was somewhat slammed on to the table just like that while some were courteous enough to explain what we were having.
Even paying the bill was not an easy process and I am wondering how do they make good profits/cashflows =_=;
Although I would like to apologise for the reaction of our party due to table arrangements, I would rather not be coming to this place unless I have a craving for good paella (provided that they do have it on the menu that day) and...
Read moreOlivia Deli made its home in the popular APW in Bangsar, and quickly gained popularity as an option for Spanish fares in Klang Valley. To me, Olivia Deli looks more like a casual tapas restaurant than upscale one due to its settings but the service was very welcoming and friendly.
I went there in the afternoon and I could feel the sweltering heat as I tucked into my food. The environment was better when I went back the second time, and this time in the evening.
◾Chef's selection of Cold Cuts & Cheeses to me, is a perfect way to start the dinner. Available in two sizes. ◾Soup of the day - to our delight, it was pumpkin soup.. creamy without being overly thick with aroma of garlic. ◾Stuffed Piquillos - 2 Piquillos peppers stuffed with 2 different filings.. one would be tuna and another one I kind of forgot 😅 ◾Clams a Bulhao Pato - 450g worth of clams were cooked with white wine, coriander, garlic and olive oil. Good till the last drop. ◾Prawns ao Alhinho with 350g of fresh prawns sauteed in olive oil, garlic, chilly, lemon and coriander. Definitely fresh crustaceans packed with flavours. ◾Pork Ragu Cannelloni with truffled bechamel and tomato sauce was cleaned up completely without any leftover the moment it was served, a testimony on how delicious this dish was. ◾Iberico Baby Back Ribs - nicely charred on the edges without burnt and the meat was oozing with fragrant aroma. Did Salt-bae style of sprinkling the sea salt onto the meet to further enhance the already tasty meat. ◾Braised pork cheeks with mashed potato brought a wide smile on my face with its tenderness and flavour. I almost wiped out the entire mashed potato as the gravy was such a nice match with it.
One thing that I love about Olivia Deli is that corkage is free for the first bottle of wine. Perfect for me who loves bringing wine to enjoy...
Read moreWhen I first visited this place (2 years ago), I gave 4 stars and i liked it. Now, forget it since they changed the menu and drastically increased the price of sangria.
2 years ago review: I came here twice within 3 days, so I could try more items on the menu.
This place seems to be more Portuguese inspired cuisine with some Italian, Spanish and other Western flavors.
The portions are slightly bigger than tapas size, which allows to try a few things without getting stuffed and burning your wallet. The place seems always busy - even on a Tuesday night.
The staff is friendly and accommodating turning off AC blowing on my face.
The cold cuts is a good assortment for 60RM, and I definitely recommend some kind of chorizo paste.
I love the clams, which are sautéed with white wine, garlic and lime juice. I could have dropped some spaghetti in the sauce. Anyway, you can order a little bread basket to dip in the juice, and I wished the bread would be slightly toasted.
The pork ragu cannelloni is backed in rich béchamel, which I found it to be a bit light on salt. However, there is plenty of meat to fill up your tummy. I wonder if they will make them with tomato sauce and mozzarella.
The prawns already pealed, but still with the head, are the worth every penny. 7 to 8 perfectly cooked with plenty of flavored sauce to dip more bread in it.
The crema Catalana was good, but you have to have a sweet tooth cause it is not like the crème brûlée. This is more rich, creamy and sweet.
Sangria is refreshing and...
