I have been eating at this mixed rice place for a long time. It is one of my favourite places for lunch or dinner because the food is always ready, and there are many choices. The main reason I keep coming back is because of their chicken steak, which tastes really good.
Even though this is a mixed rice stall, the chicken steak is very different from what you usually get. The chicken is always cooked well. It is crispy outside, and soft inside. The black pepper sauce is thick and tasty, and it goes well with the chicken. You can also choose mushroom sauce, which is also nice. The chicken steak comes with rice and maybe a bit of salad or vegetables, depending on what you ask for.
When I first started buying the chicken steak, it was RM8, which I thought was a very fair price for what you get. But now, the price has increased to RM9.20. I understand that food prices are going up everywhere, but I still feel a bit sad about it. For someone who eats here often, it makes a difference. Still, I continue to buy it because the taste is really worth it.
The mixed rice options are also good. They have many dishes like fried eggs, curry chicken, vegetables, tofu, and more. Everything looks fresh and clean. I usually pick 2–3 types of dishes with rice and pay depending on what I take. The price for mixed rice is still quite normal and affordable.
The people working there are friendly. They work fast, and they remember regular customers. Even when it is busy, the line moves quickly. They also pack the food nicely if you want to take away. When I buy the chicken steak to go, they put the sauce in a separate container, which keeps the chicken from getting soggy.
The place is not big, just a normal food court or coffee shop. It is not very fancy, but it is clean enough. They clean the tables quite often, and the food trays are covered so the food stays fresh. I feel safe eating here.
The stall is usually quite full during lunch and dinner times, especially on weekdays. You may have to wait for a seat, but the wait is not too long. I think many people like this place because the food is fast and tasty.
If I could suggest something, it would be nice if they could give a special price for regular customers, or maybe a simple set meal for chicken steak with a drink. That would make the price feel more worth it, especially now after the price increase.
Overall, this is still one of my favourite places to eat. Even though the chicken steak is more expensive now, I still enjoy it. It is hard to find a good chicken steak at this price that tastes this nice. I will keep coming here for sure, but I do hope they don’t raise the price again soon.
If you are looking for a good and simple place to eat, with many choices and a very nice chicken steak, I think this zha fan stall is a good choice. Just be ready to spend a bit more if you go for the chicken steak. For me, it’s...
Read moreEconomy Rice, Mixed Rice which ever you want to call it, it is a very Malaysian Chinese Style eatery, and 126 Mixed Rice Restaurant is one such restaurant with a bit of an upgrade* Traditionally, Chinese in Malaysia, as I know it, have meals that consist of three dishes* and a soup to accompany either rice or porridge., sometimes even noodles or dumplings depending on the locale. These dishes are served in separate plates, everyone in the family will sit together to eat during lunch or dinner. Similarly, at a chinese restaurant, customers will be serve the traditional way as one would eat at home. So one might say that a mixed rice restaurant is very much like a "buffet**" style restaurant, you compose your own plate with the different dishes being serve at the buffet line, usually the soup and Chinese tea or plain water are free of charges. If this is foreign to you, you definitely want to try it, as it serves (this particular restaurant) up to 100 different types of dishes daily from 10:00am-9:45pm. Access to this restaurant is via LRT, it is walking distance from the Bukit Jalil LRT station. Google map will get you there. Currently (December 2016), standard or going rate/price around Malaysia for a plate of mixed rice is RM 5-7+/-, consist of 3 dishes ie: eggs, vege and meat such as poultry or pork, if the meat are replaced with fish, you will be charged an extra RM1-5 in price. *Upgrade: 126 Mixed Rice Restaurant after renovation and newly open has a separate air-conditioning seating area for non-smokers! Bravo!
**Dishes 3 dishes - usually 2 vege dishes and one meat dish
*buffet self service restaurant, once inside the shop, look for the guy giving you a plate of rice, usually the portion is a bowl, you can ask for a blank plateas well, pick the dishes of choice! You can have more then 3, 4 or 5 or 10, up to your appetite. Price will be charge...
Read moreI've been frequenting this restaurant for sometimes by now and I've been observing their price that they charging has been inconsistent. I can take the same vege but turn out to be charged differently. Averagely I take away 3 packs with each pack consisted of, one portion of vege, one portion of meat (chicken/pork) and one portion of eggs/ tofu. All my portion is very reasonable, just that I realised that the polyform pack is small, after putting in the rice, average dishes of 2 or 3 portion easily stuffed the pack fully, it will appear as if you have not been eating for days. I was buying from RM28 for 3 packs from last time till I purchased it at RM 40 lately. I can't accept the fact it's the same portion with same dishes... one more thing I notice, each of their staff charges differently. The common feedback from their boss is 'your portion is a lot'
Please be extra careful when you take away your food there. Their attitude are bad, appears extremely impatient. I think it's time Malaysian should come together and start boycotting eateries who are charging unreasonably. Anti- profiteering. They should list out the pricing upfront and not charging unreasonably as they tried to resonate it...
