Should anyone claim they know a place with the best char siu and they're not referring to Kam Kee Restaurant, then you need to reevaluate your friendship.
We sat down, ordered and started eating within 10 minutes of entering the establishment. We ordered the Small Hainanese Rice (RM2.50) which was fragrant and flavorful, but note that the small rice is indeed very small. Perfect for those who wants to indulge more in the meats. The Steamed Chicken (RM21.50) was also really good, with a soft melt-in-your-mouth texture to the skin. We opted for the chicken breast and chicken thigh, however the breast was a tad bit dry. We ordered a mix of Roasted Pork & Char Siu (RM10.80) but couldn't get enough of the latter, thus ordered a second serving of solely just Char Siu (RM10). It's not your typical fatty charred pork, with a perfect ratio of meat to fats, with a delightful char and a delicious dark garlicky honey sauce drizzled over. The Roast Pork is decent, we wouldn't say it's outstanding but it's far from bad.
The Bean Sprouts (RM6.60) was crunchy, fresh and flavorful. Spicy Sour Vegetables (RM7.50) was decent, sour and mildly spicy, however the vegetables weren't cut thus making it a bit of a struggle to eat. Theres utensils and condiments on the table, with tissue boxes mounted on the walls. Their chili isn't the ordinary chicken rice chili, and they also offer minced ginger to accommodate the meats. Their soup is also marvelous, definitely not the typical plain tasting soups fragrant with MSG. It's extremely flavorful, and they offer refills if you request. We dined on a sunday morning, so there wasn't a lot of people. But do come earlier as their meats...
Read moreI've been hunting for authentic hainanese chicken rice for the longest time, and finally I've found it here.
My friends and I (germans and Spaniards) ordered some village chicken, char siew, roasted pork and some sour vegetables. The main star for our table were the chickens and the char siew. The chicken was really tender and juicy, and the texture is really nice.
The char siew Was quite the surprise for us as we ordered it just because I like char siew in general. I was shocked to the amazing taste of the char siew as it was so juicy and flavourful, while being crunchy on the surface.
Service was also really quick in this restaurant and it was quite cooling in the restaurant which does help with the dining experience in hot Malaysia during the day.
In short, I'd definitely recommend all friends this restaurant when they visit KL, and I personally would drop by this place each time...
Read moreThe Charsiew Rice here is a 11/10 ! 🤩 My boyfriend introduced this place to me, the Charsiew is definitely something that I couldn’t stop thinking about. The texture is like butter with a flavourful crust, the Charsiew has this incredibly tasty texture with crust which make it so balanced and enjoyable making you go in for more and the sauce was very delicious with fried garlics in it.
Also we ordered the kampung Chicken rice steam was very delicious as well. 🍗 😊
Another thing that makes the experience even better is the chicken rice chilli that has again chopped garlic in them, so delicious and beautifully pairs with the food.
I came here a total of 3 times in the span of 2 months and yet I can’t get enough. Definitely a must try.
The environment is your regular restaurant and the service was great by Ms Yong, she was incredibly kind and...
