Over the past two years we have been regular, indeed frequent, patrons of this music venue. The ambiance of JaoTim provides the ideal conditions to create the perfect atmosphere to really enjoy the musical performances and we have had many memorable nights enjoying the performances of various, highly talented, local performers and we have always found the JaoTim staff to be very friendly. Having said that, JaoTim is not perfect, there are many negatives. The really uncomfortable seats, the very limited and never changing food menu, the expensive drinks and only one choice of beer. Ladies, you will hate the fact that there is only one female toilet and there isn't even a changing room for the performers, so they are forced to sit near the bar putting on their makeup. However we have happily put up with and tended to look past all of these. That was until 30th May 2024 when we attended a Jazz show by 'Boys That Swing'. The performance put on by these five young local musicians was great, but the evening was utterly ruined by a table of middle aged men and women that talked incessantly. We asked them to be quiet, but this request was ignored. At the interval we even moved forward to a then empty table to get away from them, but a few minutes later another couple arrived, joined this group and the talking started over again. We asked them a second time to be quiet or if they must talk to relocate to the far end of the venue, their reply was to tell us to move closer to the band! This is a 'pay to enter' music venue and so the ability to be able to enjoy the performance should be a given and the venue management should ensure such bad behaviour is dealt with immediately, for no other reason than respect to paying customers and also the performers. We saw nothing to indicate that the JaoTim management even care.

Jao Tim is a gem for live music lovers! 🎶 The music system is top-notch, delivering crystal-clear sound that truly elevates the experience. The ticket price of RM 80 is absolutely worth it for the quality of the show and the chill, laid-back vibe of the venue. Highlights? The red wine paired with keropok (yes, you read that right!) was a quirky yet delightful touch. 🍷✨ The show itself started off incredibly strong—engaging, energetic, and full of soul. The first half was pure magic, and I was completely immersed in the performance. However, towards the end, the volume seemed to escalate a bit too much, making it harder to fully enjoy the music. It felt a tad overwhelming, especially for those who prefer a more balanced sound. Another downside was the occasional mosquito buzz, which slightly interrupted the otherwise perfect ambiance. 🦟 Overall, Jao Tim is a fantastic spot for live music enthusiasts. With a few tweaks (like adjusting the sound levels and addressing the mosquito situation), it could easily be a 10/10 experience. Still, I’d highly recommend it for the great music, unique pairings, and unforgettable vibes! 🌟

It was my first visit to Jao Tim KL, and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall atmosphere. The place has a beautiful vintage charm — exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and warm lighting that makes you feel cozy the moment you step in. What makes Jao Tim stand out is that they even have live band performances during the day, which is quite rare for bars in KL. It’s not your typical nightclub vibe — more like a relaxing lounge where you can sip a drink, chat with friends, and enjoy quality live music. I also tried my very first cocktail here, the Red Carpet Treatment, and it was excellent. The cocktails are creative, well-balanced, and reasonably priced. Events here are diverse, some ticketed and some free, so there’s always something new to look forward to. Overall, Jao Tim is a great spot if you’re looking for a classy yet laid-back place in the heart of Petaling Street. Definitely worth following their social media for event updates!

It took them an hour to serve the rice bowls. After waiting for half an hour, we asked the staff if the food was ready. They told us it was coming but it took them another half an hour. Not a word of sorry. The vibe was good and we had a bottle of wine. When it was time to pay, they brought us the receipt. I just checked the total price written on the receipt and made my payment. Apparently, they only charged for the wine. And came over to us for the payment of the food. At first, we thought they were asking us if we wanted to order more and we said no. Later on, another staff came over to ask for the payment again and we made the payment. The lady staff or whom seemed like one of the person in charge(a little short, was wearing a long black dress) who came over to ask for the payment was staring at us. We werent trying to run away or anything. It was just a small misunderstanding and i dont think sje should have treated us the way she did. Aweful hospitality. The vibe was good and all but if this is the level of service they provide the customers, i dont think its...
