RM10 for a set of Katsu Curry Ramen with a free drink is just unbelievable! But that was the exact price that I paid for the monthly specials at The White Forest, hidden gem of a cafe in city centre. Even the drink - Italian soda series - already cost RM15 per glass!
Located inside Scarletz Suite by Exsim Group, the cafe is only accessible through Level 1 parking lot - look for the sign with "森森" and enter the door beside it. Get yourself enchanted with slender birch trunks all over the cafe, reminisent a white forest (hence the name).
◾Katsu Curry Ramen was a monthly specials clocked at RM10 per full-sized bowl and drink. Fantastic value for money - they didn't skimp on the breaded chicken katsu, a full egg was included together. The curry was not Japanese curry but local curry instead - a bit bland but can't expect much for the price paid. ◾Ahiru Donburi (duck rice) RM33 was worth every penny paid. Slow-cooked 18 hours duck breast slices on top of a bowl of rice with Japanese soft boiled egg, pickled cucumber and dried seaweed. Duck broth was served separately in teapot. The broth was shoyu-based, delicateky light yet aromatic. ◾White Forest Salad and Salmon Garden Salad would appease anyone - although the former was more Instagram-able. ◾Shoyu Chicken Rice RM20 came with marinated tender chicken. ◾Mackarel Rice Set RM25 came with a full saba fillet in sweet teriyaki sauce. I prefer my fish to be in shioyaki style though. ◾Shoyu Sesame Chicken Skewer RM13 proved that ◾Chawanmushi Seafood RM9 - Japanese style steamed egg with various seafood sounded like a steal with the amount of ingredients at this price. ◾Steamed edamame with sprinkle of salt served as perfect snack to munch while waiting for food to be served.
Their desserts looked beautiful from the photos but we were too full by then.

Read moreI recently had a dinner with my partner at this popular Instagram hot-spot, and I must say, the atmosphere was absolutely perfect for snapping Instagram-worthy pictures. However, when it came to the food and service, my experience was a bit mixed.
The ambiance and aesthetics of this place are top-notch. Every corner is beautifully decorated, providing endless photo opportunities. If you're looking for a place to capture stunning visuals for your Instagram feed, this spot definitely delivers.
On the downside, the food was nothing extraordinary. It was average in taste and failed to leave a lasting impression. Additionally, the prices were on the higher side, considering the quality and taste of the dishes. While the presentation was visually appealing, the flavors didn't quite match up.
The service, unfortunately, left something to be desired. The staff appeared to be proper lacking training, as I had to repeat my order multiple times before it was accurately taken. This resulted in a slight delay and some frustration on my part. However, I understand that everyone has off days, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Lastly, if you're primarily seeking a picturesque location to capture stunning Instagram photos, this place is definitely worth a visit. Just be aware that the food may not be as impressive as...
Read moreTheir insta says to whastapp/call for reservation. I did; NO REPLY. PM them on insta, auto reply says someone will get back to me; NEVER DID.
Took a chance went there on a weekday around 11.30am, plenty of tables available. Clean and odorless despite having tress and husks on the floor. Similar to Bukku cafe except bukku has stench.
Matcha Latte (rm15); diluted.
Chawanmushi Seafood (rm9); overcooked but taste is nice.
Ahiru Donburi Duck Rice (rm33); broth is yummy, but duck eat is drier than me.
Mackerel Rice Set (rm25); comes with selected drink option. taste is not bad.
I find their crockery nice but not so practical? cup is so hot i couldn't hold it until the heat becomes bearable but i like to drink my tea Hottt. Thankfully my handy hankerchief is with me, i used it to hold the cup, what if those that dont have? = wastage of tissues.
I think its okay to try if the queue is kind or if they improve on their reservation skill.
i finished my food arrived home and digested my food still nobody contact me in regards to my...
