Uncle Duck & Food Express — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

The name Uncle Duck is a misnomer. No, it is not a restaurant that serves roast duck. Rather, it is Tuck Kor (in Cantonese), a Hong Kong diner.

All the food we tried were way above average. The standout was the oyster soup noodles - the broth was full of natural goodness and had the sweetness of a seafood soup. It came with 5 fresh and plump oysters. The wan tan loh mee was Hong Kong style - lightly coated with sauce - and none of the KL type dark sauce. The generously portioned mui choy kau yuk rice was a delight - not too salty and not drenched in sauce. Cut was tenderly cooked. I cared less for the beef brisket noodles as I found the meat rather sinewy.

The fish and cuttlefish balls were made in-house and had natural bounce. We finished off with tong sui. The black sesame, red bean and almond soup were outstanding. Found the walnut soup rather lacking in sweetness compared to the other 3 (I do not have a sweet tooth). One minus is their pervasive use of yin choy as a side vege. Choy sum would have been more suitable but it is costlier.

Had he noodles with smoked Duck and dumpling soup.

Noodles were quite alright. Had some flavours, and it wasn't too bad. Only wish they were a bit more generous on the smoked Duck, however, portions is justified with their cheap prices. Perhaps, one can order additional smoked Duck.

Dumpling soup was also flavourful, with generous filling. Had assorted condiments and chili's to play around and customise the flavours of your dish.

Service was okay, as was the set up. Worth a try, and would come to try the other variable...

I passed by this shop a few times , located off Ipoh road & block by a row of stalls in front . Lookign at the shop from outside , first impression would be like cafe food or similar but once you step in , u will be amazed , they offer you very delicious hong kong style food cook to perfection and tasty hong kong milk tea & desserts . The most captivating part is the price ! It is very competitive ! Please keep it to urself and don't share or next time this place popular and crowded then I have no place to sit and eat 😂 ...
