Visited this restaurant with my family after seeing many high ratings on Google, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. The restaurant appears to cater exclusively to the T10 segment. As a T20 customer, I found the food to be significantly overpriced, with portion sizes that were shockingly small and not value for money.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including beef char siew, lobster pasta, claypot rice, chicken and some side dishes, but the portions were extremely limited, in some cases not even enough for one person. The claypot rice alone cost RM80, yet it only came with a few slices of mushroom, chinese sausages and rice. The ingredients were basic, minimal and certainly did not justify the premium pricing.

Despite spending a substantial amount (RM900+ for 5 adults), we left the restaurant still hungry and had to stop elsewhere for food afterward. Adding to the disappointment, the restaurant’s policies feel overly money-driven. For example, cancelling a booking can incur a RM50 per person penalty, which is excessive and not a standard practice in most restaurants. The waiter was also rather pushy, used subtle techniques to encourage us to order more overpriced items.

While the indoor setting was acceptable, the overall experience was far from pleasant. We couldnt find drop-off point at the entrance, so we had to park at a nearby lot and walk through a back alley that was dirty, smelly and littered with rubbish, including wastewater being poured out from the kitchens.

Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant, especially who were from more economical backgrounds that are hoping to treat themselves to a special experience. The value, service and overall experience simply do not match the expectations set by the reviews. I truly regret visiting this place as it felt like a waste of my hard-earned money. I rarely leave comments about the restaurants I visit, but I felt compelled to speak up this time, at the very least to prevent others from falling into the same trap.

Please RECONSIDER if you plan to visit...

As an avid Chinatown explorer, this is a new vibrant find for me! The owners and partners of this establishment (B Hotel & Upperhouse) have turned this building into something spectacular, it’s truly a hidden gem 💎

There’s 2 entrance into this hotel, one from the back alley (main entrance) and another one from the markets of Chinatown (all the stalls). Greeted by the cutest aesthetics on the ground floor would be a coffee bar and some seating area. The hotel reception is on Level 1. Then, you would have to take a lift up to the restaurant at the top floor!

This place is pork free so they have some interesting twist on traditionally pork dishes.

Dishes we tried : Wagyu Char Siew - a lean char siew meat, tasted like high quality tender charsiew 10/10 Grilled Octopus - I like the sauce used (reminiscent of thai curry sauce) but this is slightly chewy and wasn’t served hot. 6/10 Crispy CCF - Very interesting CCF, humongous for one mouthful though. The most atas chee cheong fun if I’ve ever seen one! 8/10 House Bowl - lap mei fan for the locals. They used chicken for this! A good introduction to a traditionally pork dish. 8/10

Would love to revisit the space. It was raining the day we came but it’d be nice to have dinner with the city view on the rooftop deck if you have a chance. This might even be a cool place to host private functions (restaurant size seems to be able to seat 60 pax...

First, the food 🍽️ — honestly beyond expectations! From appetizers to mains, every dish was carefully crafted, beautifully plated, and full of layers in flavor. Their signature dish was so good I couldn’t stop eating it~ Paired with the restaurant’s wine recommendation 🍷, it was pure enjoyment. Perfect match, perfect vibes.

The wine selection was also impressive 🥂. Whether you just want a light drink or something a bit more unique, you’ll definitely find a good choice here. Sipping wine, enjoying delicious food — the whole evening felt so healing.

And the service 🧑🏻‍🍳 — deserves a huge shoutout! The staff were super friendly, not only warm and welcoming, but also very attentive in explaining the menu and suggesting pairings. Zero distance, just comfort. Dining with friends here felt so relaxed, almost like being at home.

Overall, I’m really satisfied ✅ ✔️ Tasty food ✔️ Great drinks ✔️ Amazing vibes ✔️ Friendly service

Definitely adding this to my “revisit list” 💯 Highly recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant with both atmosphere + great flavors!

Upper House KL is an ideal romantic dinner place to bring a date or a group of friends for an evening of deliciously modern Asian-inspired bites. Inspired by the most popular bites of Malaysians’ favorite food at all times, plus an innovative twist in both flavor and food ingredients that are 100% pork free. All of their menu are totally perfect to pair with any of signature cocktails or mocktails available on menu. The winning drink? Surely is the Jo’s Paradise! After being greeted by a show of smoke and aromatic spice. This gin-based drink with orange liqueur and burnt cinnamon stick offers the tastebud a warm hug in liquid form. For the food, a must order should be the Wagyu Char Siew. Instead of traditionally using a juicy cut of pork ribs, the chef plays creative by using the intercostal cut of super tender Wagyu beef ribs, thus resulting a satisfyingly smoky barbecued beef that is served alongside with the restaurant’s pretty pickled pink radish roses and cucumber flowers to balance the rich meat flavour.
