Tried their 4-course lunch at Skillet KL yesterday to celebrate my friend's birthday. Overall experience, my friend and I both enjoyed the food and the service provided by Ms Cing Cing, our server.
However let me justify why I only rated 3 stars instead.
Positive: In terms of service, it was superb. Both of our course were served at the same time. Ms Cing Cing explained very well and detailed for each course plated in front of us. First course: Amuse Bouche, I enjoyed it very much. Love the beetroot and pear the most. I'm not really a person who enjoys beetroot as beetroots tend to have earthy and slight bitter. However in this dish, there was no bitterness and earthy taste in the beetroot! Kudos to the chef!! It works well with the mascarpone and the prune.
Second course: the oyster was fresh and huge! I love the garnish, it gives out a very tangy spice, paired perfectly with the oyster.
Main course: Ordered the wagyu beef ribs, was a little disappointed as the way they cook it together with the sauce was not to my liking. But the beef was tender and juicy. The lamb was seasoned well and tender. Love it!!
Dessert: Was very nice as well. The white chocolate was not too sweet and not too overpowering. The team is kind enough to have a birthday surprise for my friend even though I did not ask for it. Thank you for that. I appreciate it.
Negative: For the Amuse Bouche dish, one of the waiter (not Cing Cing) provided us with the spoon. The way he placed the spoon on our table was not proper. He did not make sure the spoon was in proper position and left. As a fine dining restaurant and recently been recognized as Michelin guide, i'd expected more.
We did not order any wine as we are not really a wine person, hence we only ordered water. Ms Cing Cing poured the water without holding the glass, i noticed the glass was in oval shape and when she poured the water, the glass was very unstable. Perhaps, when you are serving your guest drinks maybe holding the glass while pouring the water would be better?
The price. I noticed in your menu almost every dish, starting from the second till the last course, there is an additional charge. I would rather your team make the 4-course at a higher price instead of putting additional charge on almost every dish. If thats the case, i might as well go for the ala carte instead of the course meal. And the last point, really puts me off.
I wasn't expecting when you serve coffee/tea with the dessert, there is an additional charge for the tea/cofffee!! I have been to several fine dining restaurants and usually their coffee/tea are already included in the course meal price. And your waiter did not mention that there is an additional charge for the tea. If I'd know, i would not have ordered it.
Conclusion: I will not be back for the lunch menu.. Maybe for the dinner session will give it a try again?
Anyways, thank you...

First off, this is a review on their food delivery and not dine-in
Service: We placed the order via Whatsapp and was greeted by a polite & informative customer service who made pretty good recommendations.
Packaging: From a by-stander’s point of view, not knowing what was within, it looks more like a beautifully wrapped gift set emitting an extremely seductive scent of truffle
Spring Signature (RM 198)
1 x Dried Longan Bread Loaf 1 x Truffles Butter (100g) 1 x Kulim Butter (80g) 1 x Soup of the Day 1 x Mushroom & Summer Truffles Penne 1 x Saute Vegetables 2 x Pomme Puree with Homemade Duck Bacon 1 x Pumpkin Puree 2 x Slow Cooked Duck Leg 1 x Torched Baby Cabbage
Taste: The promise of providing a no-frills personalised dining experience at an affordable price, seems ambitious but Skillet has begged to differ. Just the amount of food that came out from the box alone was enough for us to go back & take a second look at the receipt. Portions were fit for a royal banquet, presentation & plating was more of an art. After recovering from having been run over by the charging smell of truffle, we dug into the banquet laid before us.
The freshly baked dried longan bread emitted a crunch as we peeled it apart to reveal the soft fluffy texture within. The thought of the juiciness of the duck finished off with a touch of cranberry makes us hungry all over again. The penne was al dente with a sprinkle of freshly shaved truffle accompanied by a rich & creamy mushroom sauce. The texture of the soup of the day was creamy & had a rich flavour of broccoli delighting the diner with each spoonful.
We concluded the meal with a customized Cempedak tart fulfilling their promise of a personalized dining experience.
Price: Reasonable for the quality & variety of food
Recommended? Though some may say they were trying to hard, we think they were simply delivering their mouth watering promise in the form of a gift box set to lift one’s spirits

Read moreAfter a stellar experience at Beta KL in August 2022, I had high expectations for Skillet KL, hoping for another memorable meal. The place didn't disappoint when it came to food and ambiance, setting the stage for what should have been a perfect evening.
The dinner kicked off impressively with an innovative pairing of Amur Caviar and Fried Sago, a clever combination that showcased the kitchen’s creativity right from the start. It was both refreshing and flavorful, a real highlight of the meal.
However, not everything was flawless. The Wagyu beef, although rich and tender, was a tad too salty for my girlfriend’s taste. It was a small hiccup in an otherwise delicious course lineup.
The real letdown of the evening was the wine selection. I had hoped to relive a wonderful wine experience with the Le Pauillac de Château Latour, a reliable third wine from the esteemed Chateau Latour. Unfortunately, it was unavailable. Instead, we were recommended the 2007 Chateau Latour a Pomerol. This wine, we soon discovered, had no connection to the renowned Chateau Latour's lineup. Unlike the Le Pauillac, which is a genuine product of Chateau Latour, the Chateau Latour a Pomerol left us underwhelmed and failed to live up to the “premium” tag it was sold on. The wine tasted sour, lacked characater, felt watery, and carried the uninspiring flavor of a wine aged in steel barrels—hardly what one would expect at this price point. This misstep did not complement our meal and sadly, we left half the bottle untouched.
At 3200MYR for two, you’d expect every detail, including the wine, to be spot on. While Skillet KL does a fantastic job with its cuisine and the presentation is top-notch, their wine list and recommendations could definitely use some improvement.
In summary, Skillet KL offers a great dining experience with a few areas that could be better. The food is almost spot-on, but if you’re going, maybe double-check the wine suggestions or stick to...
