Went to chef wan’s restaurant last weekend. It used to have good food last year but quality definitely dropped. I dont mind paying good food at expensive price but this time the experience was terrible.
Ordered nasi ulam ayam percik. Served with this yellow rather lukewarm rice that was so salty. I used to have nasi ulam with all the ulam mixed with rice, however this time the ulam which was already wilted placed aside. Condiments budu and what not was not necessary as the rice was already salty. Was hoping the chicken to be tasteful, but it tasted like on the go meals on plane meals, didnt taste close to ayam percik at all!!! Was very dissapointed. Chicken size was small, served lukewarm as well. Overall 2/10 for this. Keropok served together was not crunchy, lemau already as well.
Another menu we ordered was this roasted chicken - western menus were limited. Black pepper sauce slash dipping didnt taste like black pepper, but just watery and salty. Chicken was soft and somehow juicy so that was okay. Overall 4/10.
Ordered Pink Lady as my beverage at the start. Was informed by the waiter, it was not available lol so then chose this asamboi drink , came their rude looking malay chef asking rudely which asamboi we wanted? Can u be more pleasant towards your customer?
Dessert was this coconut panna cota. Too sweet for my liking but overall decent . 6/10.
Chef Wan is a reputable chef and celebrity. Having this sort of service is not acceptable especially having it at a touristy spot like Melaka. I hope this could give some headstarts to the manager of this branch to do a postmortem and improve on food tasting, quality and overall...

First, food served without cutleries - no issue, we just had to ask. But when my husband approached one of the staff, he brushed him off along the line that he was busy. But he did send someone to provide us the cutleries.
Most disappointing was when our request to take a photo got turned down by two staff (one regular and one manager/supervisor) along the same line of them being busy, and I quote one of them saying “Jap eh, saya tengah buat kerja” and walked off.
It was not full house btw and for background, they were serving dishes to the table next to us, so we probably interrupted them? Nonetheless, this is the first time that we encountered this, and wouldn’t this be part of customer service? Makes us wonder if it’s part of the restaurant’s policy to ensure that all food are served immediately because both staff gave the same reason! Even so, the staff could have said nicely and not just “brush us off” like they did. And hey, a photo takes max 10s - the food won’t get cold just because of that! Anyway, we did get a photo after but it was not an enjoyable experience.

Can see many staff but most of the staff are just standing and talking , two gals at cashier the rest are just chit chat at the bar counter. Menu need to go out and ask for the menu, the bell on the table is not working. When wanna order need to go out again, all the staff will push to the job to only one particular male staff wearing white color shirt with a bit of curly hair and wearing spec. The rest is just keep on chit chatting. When wanna go to order dessert, again no one at the dessert bar, go to counter, they order the same person again to serve me. I wonder is it only one person can work the rest is just sending command and chit chatting and ignoring the customer? The attitude is quite bad, maybe that is the waiter’s job scope while the rest of the waiter and waitress just keep on chit chatting and neglect the customer?
