Man Yuan Fang Vegetarian Restaurant — Restaurant in Malacca

Came here only once for dinner during my Feb and March stay in Melaka.

This is a nice looking vegetarian restaurant, a little off the main tourist area of Melaka, but close to the Maritime Museum. After being seated, I was given menus, about 4 of them. This was too many for me to deal with. So I just ordered something off the set menu with a pineapple juice. The meal I ordered was the sweet & sour mock pork with rice and black bean lotus root soup. The main was nicely presented and tasted good. There was an especially nice touch with several pieces of broken chapatis, which added another level of texture to the meal.

The staff are really nice here, friendly and helpful.

The price here is high by the standards of vegetarian places in Melaka. The restaurant is air conditioned, so I guess someone has to pay for that!

So the reason I’m giving this restaurant only one star is because I got an upset stomach soon after eating here and this evening meal was the only thing I’d eaten...

We had lunch here and thought the food was nice and ok value, the staff were friendly and welcoming and there was good air-con. When seated we were asked if we were vegetarian, we replied vegan and we were assured they would veganise anything on the menu for us which we thought was a nice touch. We had the braised tofu set meal which comes with the black bean and lotus soup (delicious) and rice - huge portions and a nice light flavour to everything. Also had the sweet and sour 'chicken' which was nice too. Altogether I think we paid 45rm which isn't too bad. Recommend if you are vegan, they were happy to...

Absolutely ridiculous and bad service by the head waitress. We booked 2 tables. Ordered first, and the food is served to the 3 tables that came later than us.

We complained and the response was repulsive. The head waitress came to our table with our order and said PLEASE WAIT AND THE CHEF WILL COOK WHATEVER HE WANTS TO COOK FIRST.

Honestly, food is mediocre(maybe my mood) . I can claim some other vegetarian shops or stalls sells better food than this pompous joint (no doubt this joint have better furnishing and air cond) . MY FAMILY AND I WILL NOT VISIT THIS...
