I felt sad while visiting Melacca. This place has altered dramatically for the worse. The local council does not appear to recognise or grasp its rich history. Aside from the existing historic structure on St Paul's Hill, the ancient route to the structure is part of history. The local municipality removed the original stones leading to the hilltop and replaced them with tiles. Even when they replaced the tiles, they did not properly maintain them. Some of them are broken and they can be slippery on a wet day. I have found several other places which were once in Melacca now gone, like the Portuguese settlement and cow carts. The rickshaws were hideously decorated with no reflection of the once famous form of transport. It makes me angry to see how this beautiful historical town have changed and the bad decisions of the local council. There are much I could say but it makes me angry to think about it. I hope they come back to their senses and appoint someone who understands and appreciate history....

Read moreWonderful and memorable experience especially the views of the Melaka city from up here. The climb up the steps was a little steep and will give your heart a workout. Full of tourists and not to mention the friendly basker jamming away at his guitar with some popular 80's songs. This made the visit even more fun. Interestingly, it was pretty cool up here in the ruins on the hill even though it was hot in town down below. Certainly, a place to visit if you're in Melaka. Not...
