Located along the Little India of Malacca, this establishment serves South Indian cuisine. Came for breakfast and had roti canai, idli, teh tarik and the packet nasi lemak. Didn’t try the banana leaf rice.
The ambience looks good, air conditioned, noticeably quite clean and comfortable.
The roti canai was nicely fluffy, but the accompanying curries were far too salty and watery, lacking the rich depth we expected. The sambal tasted more like sweet tomato paste than the usual spicy punch. The idli, however, was soft and paired well with the trio of chutneys, which were fresh and flavourful. Teh tarik was underwhelming—more like hot milk with barely any tea taste. Nasi lemak also fell short, with only a tiny dash of sambal that didn’t do the dish justice.
Lastly, the service, unfortunately, left a noticeably poor impression. What stood out wasn’t just inattentiveness, but a clear disparity in how we were treated compared to others. A simple request for the chutney pot was met with a gruff response and an unfriendly stare, while a neighbouring diner making the same request received polite and prompt service. It’s rare to encounter such an experience in Malaysia, but it felt like we were treated differently—perhaps due to the language we spoke or our race. Regardless of background, every diner deserves to be treated with equal respect. Great food alone isn’t enough; genuine, inclusive service is just as important in creating a positive...
Read moreI randomly found this restaurant while exploring little India and it’s a good restaurant. The service is good and the food is also delicious. I visited it twice.
The first time was a bit confusing as I honestly had no idea what the dishes were. The staff members couldn’t quite explain it in English what the food but we managed to order food that everyone else was eating on the banana leaf. Still don’t know what the vegetable dish was called but it was delicious. It was rice with curry sauce and 3 different vegetable sides. The vegetarian soup was a bit spicy but so good. I also had some kind of chicken but I personally didn’t like it as it was extremely dry. I still enjoyed my meal a lot with just the vegetables. Vegetarian rice plate, chicken, and an ice tea cost about 23 ringgit.
The second visit I ordered a roti canai. The staff working that night was able to help me understand a bit more in English and the awesome server gave me a bit of the vegetarian soup with my meal. I later learned it was called sambal. The sauces that came with the roti was delicious. The roti pancake itself tasted fine but I wish it was hot and crispy (it was warm and soggy). Roti canai and an ice tea was a little over 5 ringgit.
If anyone has food allergies, this may not be the place for you. It’s extremely hard to understand what you are ordering. The servers go around with communal food pails to fill customer plate so cross contamination...
