We were visiting Melaka as tourists and went out late at night to look for something to eat because we were feeling a little hungry. That’s when we came across this place. From the beginning, the staff kept pressuring us to order alcohol, even though we clearly mentioned that we had driven there. One of them even said, “There are no police around at this hour, just drink.” Eventually, we were forced to order two bottles of alcohol, even though we didn’t want to. There were a lot of mosquitoes, and they gave us a fan at first — which we appreciated. But after a while, a customer from another table asked for the fan, and the staff simply took it away from us and gave it to them. When we asked why, they claimed they had never given us the fan in the first place — which was just ridiculous and disrespectful. To make matters worse, we saw a live cockroach crawling on the floor as we entered the restaurant. The place did not feel hygienic at all. The food also tasted bad and was not worth the price. What really upset us was the way we were treated compared to other customers. There were five tables occupied in total, and none of the other groups were asked to pay immediately. But as soon as our food arrived, they insisted we pay right away. It felt very disrespectful and ruined what little experience we were trying to have. Overall, it was a disappointing and uncomfortable visit. We would not recommend this place — especially if you’re just looking for a peaceful late-night meal without pressure or judgment.

J.Bat combines an awesome location with fantastic food and highly professional and attentive service. We enjoyed a great dinner at the riverside, hosted by a super-friendly and decent waiter who was always there when we needed him. We chose traditional dishes from Malaysia and were amazed by the taste of the spices and the ingredients. J.Bat is strongly recommended if you want to spend a pleasant moment enjoying great food and the relaxing atmosphere of the river. Prices are very fair, considering the quality of the food. If you like beer, the bucket offer containing five bottles might be the right thing for you (perfectly serves two people).

We had a great time at J.Bat Cultural Heritage and Bar! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady named Eya, who impressed us with her patience and attentiveness. She consistently checked in to make sure our table was well taken care of, despite having to juggle multiple responsibilities. Truly commendable service!

We ordered the mutton and chicken pizzas along with a few drinks, and the food did not disappoint — absolutely delicious and well-prepared.

A small note to management: it might be worth considering splitting roles between canvassing and service. Eya was doing both, and while she handled it gracefully, it’s a tough ask and doesn’t do justice to her or the dining experience.

Overall, fantastic vibe, great food, and service that made us feel valued. We’ll...
