Visited back in Feb. This is a catholic church built in the mid 19th century by a French mission. It’s a nice example of colonial era architecture, built in a Neo-Gothic style with twin spires at the front of the entrance, but otherwise painted predominantly plain white with yellow borders. Just outside the church building are a couple of statues. One is of St Francis Xavier and the other is of some Japanese dude he converted while in Malaysia. Directly opposite the front entrance is a sculpture of Mary with infant Jesus, which for some reason is behind a glass partition. When I visited, the front entrances were closed and I had to walk round to the offices side of the church to get into the church.

Inside, it’s also quite plain. The main decorations inside are the stained glass windows in a contemporary style depicting scenes from the life of Jesus. Ironically, the best and largest pieces of stained glass windows are behind the altar depicting saints.

The grandeur of the building is obviously no match for the monumental Gothic churches of Europe. There’s none of the decorative sculptures that typically adorn large Gothic churches. It does make for an interesting diversion from the Malaysian and Chinese architecture of Melaka if you have time in the city, especially as it’s just outside the official heritage area of the city that most...

I visited the Church of St. Francis Xavier in Melaka, and it was a pleasant experience. The church itself is quite simple and not overly decorated, which gives it a serene and peaceful atmosphere.

The church was built in 1856 by French priest Father Farvé, and it's dedicated to St. Francis Xavier, a prominent Catholic missionary who worked extensively in Southeast Asia. The church's architecture reflects a Gothic style, and while it may not be as elaborate as other churches, it has its own charm.

One of the things I appreciated most was learning about the local religious variety in Melaka. It's always interesting to see how different faiths and traditions coexist in a city with such a...

A Church is a holy ground where people can come and make their prayers to God. But unfortunately the gates are always closed. Even if anyone wants to come , light candle and pray speak to God, we are not allowed. Why is such Holy ground being closed away from people. Look at the Mosque, Temples and other religions Holy place, it is open always for people to come and pray. It is not appropriate for the Church to close their gates and make people pray outside the gates. The Catholic bible doesn't teach that right. Ne kind and humble as many are suffering. Leave the House Of God open to people who needs to come and pray. That is what God...
