Visited on a Wednesday afternoon for late 2pm lunch and the place has ample seating. We’re a group with Singapore-Melaka Nonya heritage. Absolutely love the food and hospitality provided by the Chef and owner!
We ordered the Sambal Telur Belimbing, Champor Champor Sayur, Ayam Cili Garam, Telur Cincalok, KangKong Belachan and the cucumber coconut salad (sorry forgot the name).
We love the Ayam Cili Garam which tastes very nostalgic like what our Baba Grandpa liked to make regularly. It’s milder and less spicy so people who can’t take too spicy like Chilli Padi will be able to enjoy it too.
We love that the Sambal Telur Belimbing is very well balanced. The Belimbing is soft and adds a mouthwatering acidity to this fish roe dish. Folks who are feeling tired will have their appetite whetted.
The Champor sayur is also really tasty as the gravy is flavourful and Lemak. We have never tried a version with Bittergourd and was surprised it all went well together.
The cincalok omelette arrived piping hot (like all the other freshly made dishes). Everything tastes great with Nasi (including the KangKong belachan) and it’s easy to feel like you could eat more rice there.
Fans of old school beverages may also pick up their Ice Cream Soda for nostalgia!
Absolutely highly recommend this humble eatery for those who wish to try Chitti Nonya food...
Read moreAfter reading all the 5 star reviews here, i decided to try this shop for lunch.
This restaurant is run by husband and wife. Wife cooks and husband takes order and also helps the cook. Only 2 person running the shop.
We waited for almost 30mins for him to take our orders and another 45mins for food to be served. The crowd was average. Maybe 3 to 4 tables. Everyone looking disgruntled.
And the food.. was tasteless and overpriced. Laok aram jada only had 2 slices of brinjal and some vege with a plate of rice and salted fish cost us rm15. Absolutely under seasoned and no spice. 👎
Nasi lemak with fried chicken cost rm10 and it tasted way better. Acar timun cost rm8 was underseasoned too. We paid rm80 for our lunch and we had to go another Chinese restaurant to eat again because we didnt feel full here. Not recommended at all.
P/s owner replied me and claimed i am a paid reviewer. Let me assure u that i am NOT A PAID REVIEWER. Read moreA highly recommended place to try the authentic flavorous Melaka Chitty food and only one in Melaka. We had Pindang Udang Nanas, Sambal Telur (fish roe sambal), Ikan Selar with sambal chili garam & Telur Cinchalok with refreshing ice lemon tea. The restaurant was cozy and the owner was warm and welcoming. The food are reasonably priced as well. Though it might look like an outdated place but the place is actually clean.
When you dine here, all you taste bud will put to work – sour, sweet, spicy (not too spicy), salty and umami all could be taste and the aroma of the coconut milk with bring the food to live. The cuisines are prepare using heritage (authentic) recipes created almost 600 years ago. The amount of food was generous and enough to fill your tummy.
And if you like to know some brief introduction of the Melaka Chitty Community – the first and oldest Peranakan (means child of land) community in Malaysia, there is a small cozy museum for you to learn and know more about the Melaka Chitty. There are also exhibits of item which where you in the past by their ancestor. Thank for the hospitality...
