I arrived at 5:53 PM and was shocked to find no receptionist at the front desk, despite pressing the doorbell more than ten times. I was already feeling unwell during my ride to the hotel, and having to wait outdoors made my condition worse. Only at 6:25 PM did a staff member finally attend to me — without a single apology.
To my disbelief, she walked out with her hair wrapped in a towel, clearly having just washed it. While I understand that staff have breaks and personal needs, it would have been basic courtesy to leave a note informing guests when the reception would reopen. Most importantly, please do not claim “24-hour front desk service” on Agoda if you cannot provide it. That is misleading and unethical.
I’m also unsure if my room’s location (next to the staircase by the entrance) contributed to noise, but I could clearly hear traffic sounds from the road throughout the night.
Other points to note: A RM100 cash deposit was required with no prior notice. Front desk staff were unable to properly communicate in conversational English. Room size was spacious compared to other budget hotels I’ve stayed in overseas. Space layout was underutilized — could have fit a dining table and chair instead of just a standing table. The “Smart TV” could not connect to any network or analogue channel — effectively unusable. Cleanliness was questionable — visible dust on table and floor; stains on blanket and walls. My sinus (allergy from dust) came not long after I checked in. Air conditioner was noisy and made strange sounds at night. No fridge provided. No toothbrush or toothpaste provided. Read more23 July 2025. Our second stay here in 5 months. . ROOM Tight for space, one double bed virtually takes up the whole room, plus ensuite. No wardrobe or cupboards. Designed for short stays? BUT we found ways to manage staying in this space comfortably, and our SEVEN day stay proves this. Sound proofing is excellent, like a bank vault! Sleep peacefully. . SERVICE Manager Jessy, and Assistant Juny are fabulous people. Friendly, flexible in the service provided, happy to help out when they can. Focus on guests' satisfaction. Thanks Jessy, terima kasih Juny! . LOCATION Located on Jalan Ong Kim Wee, which can be busy at times, but no problem for VHotel guests. Opposite is our favourite breafast Hong Xuan Dimsum resto. There's also a '99 Convenience Store' nearby, as well as a pharmacy. VHotel is quite close to old Malacca town centre, walkable if you're fit. Or Grab it. Plenty of Grabs around, quick response, and only RM5.30. Heading north east to Limbongan, or north to Aeon Mega Mall is also cheap and easy. Will we stay here...
