Jonker Walk World Heritage Park things to do, attractions, restaurants, events info and trip planning

This park is just off Jonker Walk. It is largely a paved area with some plants and statues. There is a distinctive statue of Mr. Universe which is prominently positioned in the middle of the park. This area is a bit less crowded than the main thoroughfare of Jonker St, so it's a good place to come to escape the crowds for a bit if you are here on a weekend. Jonker Walk gained special status as a cultural heritage site in 2010 mostly because of its architectural links to the Portuguese era, but we experienced it as an unremarkable jumble of small traders and local food outlets. This area always crowded during nighttime. A lot of attractions such as rickshaw, various choice of foods, arts and etc.

Jonker St can be described as a bustling street with a lot to see and eat. We enjoyed walking around and going into different stores and trying some different food. We loved seeing the different temples, the street art and being close to the water also. Make sure you check out the night market though, it is very busy but equally exciting at night with the great lights and vibes. It was cool walking past the Malaysian strong man statue’s also, aha cool photo opportunity. “Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

A small and pristine park, a hidden gem for those seeking a moment of respite from the bustling streets. This tranquil oasis is graced by a statue of Dr. Gan Boon Leong, the founding father of Malaysian bodybuilding. The park's immaculate surroundings and the dignified presence of the statue create an atmosphere of calm and reflection. It's a perfect spot to take a break, unwind, and escape the hustle and bustle of China Town. Whether you're enjoying the greenery, appreciating the statue's tribute to a significant figure, or simply taking a leisurely stroll, this park offers a peaceful retreat in the midst of the city's energy.

Visited back in Feb and this place is confusing. There’s not much to see here and I’m not clear how the statues, pants and wall art are related to the world heritage aspect of Mekala. The park is largely a paved area with some plants and statues. The centre of the park is dominated by an oversized sculpture of Malaysian bodybuilder, Gan Boon Leong. It’s an okay place to visit especially on a weekday without the crowds, but I just don’t know what this place is supposed to be.

It is a park inside the Jonker Street. Actually, there was nothing special at the park. There was just a statue of Datuk Wira Dr. Gan Boon Leong (the father of bodybuilders of Malaysia), public toilets, and some seats for rest. Visitors of Jonker Street may sit here for a while to rest before continuing their exploration. No entrance fee to the park but toilet usage is chargeable.

It is a small park in the middle of Jonker Walk, so small that it can be covered in less than a minute. It has a few statues, and some nice tall trees and the main purpose is to sit and relax. This park has few visitors and is very peaceful, which is a very huge contrast with the very busy Jonker Walk just one step away.
