A little further away from Taman Jubilee so there is no sign of tourist except myself. The restaurant has limited tables but there aren't many people during lunch hour so it's easy to get a table.
For main meals, there are only roughly 4 stalls but only 2 open so I order gai si hor fun and ribs noodle. The gai si hor fun left me confuse as the soup is nothing like a hor fun soup. It's just plain MSG soup for me. The shredded chicken is a little too big so it's like chicken breast but randomly sliced. The hor fun is a little too soft to be expected like a good bowl of gai si hor fun that Ipoh should have. The only good thing is it has huge portion for only RM6. The ribs noodle is a little tasteless except for the spring onion oil fragrant. The ice white coffee is a little too sweet for me but I can still taste the aroma and smoothness of the coffee. The good thing is the caramel pudding only cost RM3 which is the cheapest I can find around here and it taste good. The texture has a nice consistency of creaminess and the sweetness is just right.
What impress me is that they have machinery to bake cake in a chinese kopitiam. They have few varieties of cakes like banana, cheese cake, honey, etc. The uncle is friendly and introduce us the type of cakes that they have. The one that caught my attention is the cempedak cake which I find it really unique. I bought banana & cempedak cake. The portion is not really huge and cost RM15 for one but the taste impress me. The banana has really good banana fragrant, a little too sweet at some part but I kinda like it. Definitely a good banana cake to die for. The taste of the cempedak cake is something I have never had before. Frankly I wouldn't know it's a cempedak cake if I just eat as it is, but the taste and fragrant is something that made me feel like couldn't stop eating and I definitely come back again to get another 1 or 2 more whole...
Read moreGenerally, a local hit and a pleasant place to spend your time with your family when it comes to lunch, tea break and supper. First, the coffee shop is located at the center of town near Chamberlain Road. As a boy growing up in my hometown, Ipoh, my family and I often visited the place for supper.
Primarily, the highly recommended tea owners are super friendly and the beverages are good and prices are reasonable too! I highly recommend you to try out the Water Chestnuts dessert drink, especially when served hot and the ever sweet and savoury combined **Red Bean ice blended drink, which both beverages are so smooth and soothing to enjoy! The young owner (son of the shop's tea making couple) even graduated from culinary studies to return to the shop and started his own pastry business specializing in baking cakes and other traditional Chinese desserts including egg tarts and Kuih Talam! The highly recommended pastry is the *Cempedak (Artocarpus Integer in English ) Cake which only sells at RM 15 per box with a flour loaded with Cempedak Fruit!
The "Hor Hee" (Fish balls, fish cakes noodle soup) is definitely the local hit there when it comes to night supper! The soup is of piping hot, with full of taste, not too mention when it's served with home made fish balls and fish cakes topped with a generous amount of fried shallots which blends everything into a scrumptious savoury flavors that will make you drool when you take the first sip of the soup or slurp of the noodles.. 🤤
The Fried noodles (Char Keoy Teow) is no stranger to faithful customers when it comes to lunch time, with its smokey and tasty notes, ready to tune up every part of your taste buds !
Overall, a pleasant place to have your lunch, tea break and dinner/supper.
Note - The only set back is an insufficient place to park...
Read moreCame here for hor hee, unfortunately it’s not operating, just my luck. Discover new land! Other than usual coffee tea series, this kopitiam is selling traditional dessert (tong-sui) and the best part is, you can choose the sugar level of your dessert, and thus ordered a less sugar ginkgo barley (白果薏米). This level of customisation in a kopitiam surprised me 👍they are selling some freshly made traditional kuih, of which I can’t take my eyes off from the bingka ubi behind the glass cabinet when I step in. Ordered bingka ubi as well as the kuih lompong, these are great! Sweetness level which is just nice. Bingka ubi comes with rich cassava flavour and you may even observed the residue ‘fibre’. Love the lompong most, fragrance from the gula Melaka and the savoury taste from the fresh desiccated coconut, like a heavenly match. This shop is right beside the main road, fret not (parking issue), there is a shop-lot-turned parking garage next to this kopitiam, though limited...
