Krua Thai Moo-Ka-Ta Restaurant (Kota Damansara) (Non Halal) — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

Mo-Ka-Ta BBQ Steamboat, a humble restaurant with an affordable menu. It’s different from the usual Thai restaurant in the sense that their menu is less elaborate offers only the basic dishes. Mokata is a specialty here, along with a couple of noodles and some street food options.

The Mokata pork set comes with a few different cuts, mostly fatty parts like pork neck and thin pork belly slices. Also included are pork meat balls, glass noodle and some greens. Seafood is also available but you’d have to opt for the mixed set.

One thing for sure is that they are not stingy with the lard. 3 large chunks are given to oil the pan so the meat won’t stick and get burnt while grilling. The friendly lady boss will also help you to arrange the meat and vegetable properly. I must say, she did a very good job. Then, the egg was cracked into the soup for extra richness. The grilled meat tasted fresh and good, even better when dipped into their homemade chili sauce. Rice is not part of the set so you will have to order it separately. That said, Salasabaii is still our top recommendation for Mokata in KL.

Thai instant noodle has a superior texture compared to ours, so I couldn’t resist trying ordering the Spicy Minced Pork Salad with Instant Noodle. The noodle was perfectly cooked to a springy firmness and it went well with the appetizing salad dressing. However, it was far from spicy.

Updated as below to 2stars:- Very terrible experience 11 March 2023 (Saturdays).

Arrived around 6.30pm the restaurant staff allocated my friend & I (table for 3) under outdoor roof panel table during raining days !!! The indoor have empty sit that not reserve notice. But the staff insist us to sit outside that splash with rain on us & food.

We did asked the the staff to move inside the restaurant (the vacant sit with no reserve) , however the staff just ignore us.

We splashed by heavy rain around 30min+ and began to feel unwell physically under hungry stomach, humid & cold weather.

After 30min+ the staff only called up us to move to vacant sit that been vacant since walked in restaurant !!! Why not allocate in earlier since we walked in?

Notice reserved 12 sit starting on 6.30pm for 7pm... however we left 7.30pm the 12sit customer still not turn up!!!

I took my family members to this restaurant just now 31/10/21 around 8.45 pm . Well to say biz was good for them till while waiting for our food to be serve , guess what ? Environment looks clean but to my wildest horror I witnessed the unbelievable , ONE OF THE WAITER TOOK A QUICK SNACK WHILE DOING HIS JOB AND WHILE MUNCHING HIS SNACK HE PICK UP A CLOTH TO WIPE HIS STAIN MOUTH . THEN ANOTHER WAITER NOT KNOWING HIS ACT TOOK THE CLOTH TO WIPE THE SERVING PLATES FOR US . 🥵😡 When I called the supervisor for explaintion he just denial it.
