Sae Ma Eul BBQ Kota Damansara (새마을) — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

(Update) It is checked that the restaurant changed the location to this new location, right opposite Ten Noodles at the end of July. Also I checked that there is no pork bone stew(뼈다귀해장국) that used to be sold at the old location. 😭 please consider serving this menu again! The buffet price has gone up from rm 35 to rm 37 for the standard option that has various pork meats, but they also have rm 47 for premium option including unlimited prawns, japchae and ttoppoki.

As I'm a Korean, the flavor and taste in grilled meats and most banchan(side dishes)are pretty good. I have been ordering the food so many time via mobile foodpanda since lockdown last year til now. It comes with lettuces, two rice, two soybeans soups, ssamjang sauce, one extra side dishs(banchan). To be honest, the food portion and quality are never consistent, ups and downs. That said, the bbq meats set I order is for 2 people, but they often simply forget the extra banchan set other than the big plastic container that's has only one portion banchan along with mixed bbq meats. Also, to me, the meats can be a little greasy due to the fat even though I ordered lean meats for chicken and pork and octopus option. Also sometimes the meats are noticably less than other time. To ensure, I always have to put extra notes in the remark on the mobile app, pls no fat or skin, just lean meats only! and more banchan and ssamjang sauce. (Updated as of mid-July 2022) Prices for the lunch sets seem gone up quite a lot! Here are new prices for lunch sets, noodle dishes, as well as bbq meats! I took my husband and my little son 2 times in a row within a week time.🇰🇷🇬🇧 My husband loves the perilla sesame flavored spicy stew with pork rib(뼈다귀 탕) , I kinda enjoyed the cold noodle called mul nengmyeon(물냉면) , also tried stir fried octopus. They are priced at rm 23~ rm21 Unlike it says in the menu, we only had 5 kinds of side dishes instead of 7 kinss, but refillable. Seems only cash accepted if the bill sum up below rm 100 Around 6 % service...

Sunday buffet dinner with friend

The bbq stove is build-in center of table, and they using the charcoal, I like the distance of the grill net with the coal so the fire power is just perfect for grill. Recommend sit outside of the shop, since the ventilation inside shop was kind of disaster.... There will be a lot of smoke if some of the customer grilling the pork belly inside, atleast outside u only have to take care ur stove

There are chicken, pork belly & pork rib for choice,

Chicken - normal, quite thick

Pork belly - serving with a long shape, keeping a scissor for cutting raw meat might be a good idea, very fresh even original 1 wouldn't have weird taste, actually nice for ppl who like to dip Korean bbq sauce, marinated & spicy was perfect for direct consume

Pork rib - it actually boneless, serving with a very large piece, it bigger than my hand, the fat was just perfect on this meat, most recommended food, MUST TRY, it totally different from pork shoulder & neck, this is the most satisfying pork meat compare to all I ate before at any bbq restaurant (actually I first time having pork rib at bbq restaurant, BTW it just too good to compare with others part) , even overcook it still having the perfect texture, I will come back only for this pork rib

Side - having a side food bar, some side dish can be taken & they top up the lettuce really fast, others side so far I like the potato, egg plant & chic pea, my Fren say their kimchi is those kind of having more refreshing

Service - a bit difficult to call a staff but speed of servicing meat...

Once upon a time, there lived a King and his Queen who loved to eat more than everything else - have good food will travel.. it was their motto. That was, until the arrival of their 2 beautiful princesses and 1 handsome prince. The eating didn't stop but the type of food did... The young ones disliked Korean food that the Royal parents had no choice but to give in to their whim and fancy.

Korean BBQ restaurants are sprouting all over Klang Valley and you could find a few of these in the busy and popular area of Dataran Sunway in Kota Damansara. One quiet afternoon, I brought the family to eat here.

◾Special lunch set starts from RM13.00 to less than RM30.00 depending on the dishes that you order. It comes with free-flow of 7 Korean side dishes of the day + rice + your chosen dish... We went for the Spicy Stir Fried Pork & Grilled Pork. ◾Kimchi Jjigye - this is a must-have item on our table everytime we go Korean. Just love slurping the spicy soup whole having our meal. ◾Thin noodle soup with veggie - the only non-spicy option that could appease the young ones. I believe that they would be busy firing up their BBQ pits on each table come evening time. Although I was tempted to order their BBQ items, the lure of cheap lunch set was too...
