A Grab driver recommended this restaurant as a "premium place for steak", and I'm glad we decided to follow-up. Comfortably quiet, with an upmarket ambience. Only 3 tables occupied at around 6.30pm on a weekday evening. Polite, professional and welcoming waitstaff, efficient and responsive. We ordered from the "Butcher's Counter" menu, which meant chilled meat portions were presented for inspection and selection. My wife had the beef tenderloin, and I chose the black cod. The steak was good, though maybe a bit underdone for Medium but that's always subjective. The fish was truly delightful, fresh, perfectly cooked, and I would gladly recommend this. The sides were identical for both dishes and rather nondescript: the sweet potato (or maybe pumpkin?) puree was bland. It would've been nicer if the sides were more varied, but this may be a business decision. About MYR 280 including mineral water. I felt this was decent value, and we left the restaurant well-contented. Located conveniently behind the Padungan restaurant row, which makes for a nice...
Read moreThe laksa here and chicken chop are pretty great too. But this review comes down to one item and it’s not part of the carvery buffet.
It’s the zhou chai mee hoon.
This monster foo chow dish has a taste profile so complex and delicious that even ramen pales in comparison. Daringly add all the white vinegar they give you as well as their foo chow wine and find every single mouthful exploding with a broth that should win international food completions, truly. Also, at this ridiculous price point for Kuching standards, they give juicy fish and fat prawns that elevate this dish from hawker to expensive.
This dish originally from another hotel (I’m guessing the chef came here), has only gotten more refined and incredible over the years and is my no.1 dish to surprise tourists with.
Their expressions of uncertainty from the soup colour usually disappear when they take the first mouthful. It’s almost like a fish/prawn based soup with light alcohol, sour tomatoes, salty prawns and the incredible zhou chai.
5 stars just for this dish. Truly foo chow food...
Read moreLoved this place. Excellent fine dining ambience with light jazz music Good cuts of meat and excellent service. You can dine ala carte, but we had the dinner meat buffet. There is buffet lunch(61++MYR)/dinner (98++MYR) Brazilian Churrascaria (grilled meat) buffet, for adults. Kids prices are around 30% cheaper. We found the buffet to be good value for money given the servings of lamb, chicken, mussels, grilled pineapple, beef and beef ribs. There is a soup & salad buffet included with the Churrascaria. The portions were so generous that despite the delicious food, we were (hehe) not able to iterate past one round! During fasting month, buffet lunch is still available if you call ahead, but buffet dinner would be a better option...
