To be honest, I was skeptical first about having wagyu outside of Japan. My first experience eating wagyu beef was during my vacation in Japan somewhere in 2011 & 2012 and I havent found the same taste of it here in Malaysia just yet until today.

We were very lucky to have the staff (Ethan) to explain in details about the beef parts and eventually help us to grill the meat because God know, we are not a good cook especially when come to grilling 🤭Btw, we chose medium and it is perfect! It's so yummy that it felts like it is melt in the mouth.

We chose set MWP 3 Tokujo 8 Kind Platter 240gm to try the differences and it was amazing experience to eat the meat right away after it has been grilled. The meats are so juicy, moisture, tender and full of flavor! We fell in love right away! 😍😍

Btw, they still havent get halal certification from Jakim but this is their first outlet that didnt serve alcohol, because they are also targeting halal food demands. But do bear in mind, their Wagyu beef and raw materials are come from halal sources. The IOI city mall outlet is their 4th outlet in Malaysia and just opened less than a week, it is the 4th day while i'm writing this review. We would like to thank Pika, one of the friendly staff for explaining this. Btw, they are all friendly and always have a sweet smiles in their faces 😊🥰

Besides the set, we also had try their Takoyaki Ball and it is so crispy outside and yummy in the inside, it's so delicious that every bite remind us of those takoyaki we were having in Japan last time.. 😋

Prices are affordable, well, this is wagyu u know 😜 and you still have a lot of other cheaper meal option than the Wagyu beef.

And what more, they are also offering a membership to collect point for voucher redemptions.

We'll definitely return and will absolutely recommends this outlet to our family...

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Awagyu Japanese Cuisine, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The ambience was serene and refined, as calming as a gentle Japanese breeze—perfect for a special occasion.

We ordered the premium yakiniku combo set, which was perfectly portioned for two people. The wagyu cuts were of the highest quality—beautifully marbled, rich in flavor, and incredibly tender. One standout was the beef tongue, which had a unique texture and paired perfectly with the spicy and salty sauce, enhancing its taste.

Beyond the yakiniku, the tempura was a pleasant surprise—crispy, light, and expertly fried. It provided a delightful contrast to the richness of the meat, refreshing the palate and awakening the taste buds. To finish the meal, the matcha ice cream dessert was a simple yet satisfying treat, with its smooth texture and balanced bitterness offering a refreshing finish.

The experience was made even more special by the thoughtful service. The team took the time to explain each type of meat, helping with grilling, ensuring everything was cooked to perfection. As a lovely surprise, the staff even sang a cheerful birthday song to my husband, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

The accompanying sides were well-curated, complementing the meal beautifully. Service was impeccable—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making the birthday celebration memorable.

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese yakiniku experience with premium ingredients, expert guidance, and a peaceful atmosphere, Awagyu is a must-visit.

Highly recommended! And most importantly they are holding sijil halal from jakim as mentioned in...

I recently dined at AWAGYU YAKINIKU, and it truly exceeded my expectations, especially with its inviting and comfortable ambiance. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and welcoming environment. The decor is modern yet cozy, with thoughtful touches like soft lighting, tasteful art, and comfortable seating that make you feel right at home.

The layout of the space balances privacy and openness, giving diners their own space while still keeping the overall setting lively and connected. Whether you're there for a romantic dinner, a family outing, or a casual meal with friends, the atmosphere makes every occasion feel special.

The service also added to the positive experience; the staff were attentive without being intrusive, enhancing the relaxed vibe. And, of course, the food was delicious – fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and flavors that felt both comforting and unique.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines great food with a wonderful environment, AWAGYU YAKINIKU is a perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Located in the east wing of the great mall, it’s easily located as they are tons of poster in the mall pointing you to this fantastic place. Was not impressed however with the lack of choices when we visited for lunch. We were some what forced to have their limited sets as it was rather busy for what ever reason today was. Not being able to choose what we really felt like eating but the out come was what drove me to add on this review. I mean there are surely no short of places currently offering the wahyu beef platters and it’s not hard to find on socmed. However boy was I glad that we “choose their available set”. I mean the cuts were quite a good variety …. Other wise you won’t see 26 cuts of specialty on their walls and advert!!! 😂😂😂😂. It was value for money and most importantly we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and totally worth the price!!!. Not only does the cuts melts in your mouth but the flavour of beef could not have been any better !!! Still drooling and my mind saturated with thoughts and sensation of each bite. I’m coming back the next chance I get!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

When I first walked past this restaurant, I knew I had to go in. The only place to get special cuts of Japanese wagyu, how can anyone resist? But once I got in by myself, mind you as there wasn't anyone at the door to greet nor serve us, I had an uneasy feeling about this place. The people working there are wandering the restaurant with their face masks half on, if its waiters or waitresses I'm not so particular, but the same goes for the people doing the food prep inside. Gloves on one hand and none at the other. I'm wondering what kind of SOP does this restaurant follow? Since this is a BBQ place and you cook it yourself I suppose the responsibility isn't theirs, but failure to follow basic hygiene for me is highly suspect. The meats are okay as it's cut from frozen, so there is little that can be said. Japanese restaurant, really? Get your act together. Either way, I won't be back.
