A Delightful Culinary Adventure at Kenny Hills Bakers (IOI Branch)
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kenny Hills Bakers at their IOI branch, and I must say, it was a delightful culinary experience. From the moment I stepped in, the cozy ambiance and warm aroma of freshly baked goods welcomed me. Despite the bustling crowd, the overall experience left a positive impression on me.
Let's start with the star of the show: the Tuna Puff. Oh boy, it was simply amazing! These delectable puffs were filled to the brim with generous portions of tuna. Every bite was a burst of savory flavors, complemented by the perfectly baked golden crust. The Tuna Puff is undoubtedly a must-try, offering excellent value for money.
Another highlight of my visit was the Onde Onde Cake. This delightful creation was a perfect balance of flavors. The cake was fluffy, not overly sweet, and had a subtle hint of coconut. The final layers of melaka and santan added a unique twist, elevating the taste to a whole new level. It was evident that great care and attention to detail went into crafting this scrumptious dessert.
The freshly squeezed grape juice was a refreshing accompaniment to my meal. It was evident that the juice was made from high-quality grapes, as it tasted incredibly fresh and had a natural sweetness. The combination of vibrant flavors and the absence of artificial additives made it a real treat.
For coffee enthusiasts, Kenny Hills Bakers does not disappoint. The latte I ordered was rich, smooth, and well-crafted. The baristas clearly know their craft and took pride in serving a quality cup of joe. Whether you prefer your coffee bold or with a touch of sweetness, their skilled team will cater to your taste.
One of the standout features of Kenny Hills Bakers IOI branch is their charcoal oven-baked pizzas. I had the opportunity to sample a few, and they were truly remarkable. The smoky flavor imparted by the charcoal oven added a unique dimension to the pizzas, making them an absolute delight. Their diverse menu boasts other tantalizing dishes that are worth exploring as well.
Now, I must address one minor drawback—the crowd and waiting time. Due to the popularity of Kenny Hills Bakers, the place can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours. This often results in a wait before you can secure a table. However, once you do get seated, the overall experience makes up for the inconvenience.
In conclusion, my visit to Kenny Hills Bakers IOI branch was a memorable one. The Tuna Puff, Onde Onde Cake, freshly squeezed grape juice, and excellent coffee all contributed to a delightful gastronomic adventure. The charcoal oven-baked pizzas were a highlight, showcasing the culinary expertise of the establishment. Despite the crowded environment and waiting time, the overall experience was well worth it. I highly recommend paying a visit to Kenny Hills Bakers for a delightful dining experience that will leave you...
Read moreFirst of all, let me establish that I like this place. I would like to give constructive feedback as well which is the only reason I would take this time to write. This is a consolidated review over two days of breakfast.
Service and atmosphere to chill are both great.
Food The Portobello Beef Pie is awesome. The beef is chunky and not minced. Also because the beef is tender! Great flavour too!
Peach strudel I think enough people have raved about the peach strudel. Yep, it's a must order.
Tiramisu cake It is an interesting take on the famous dessert. The toffee crystals and almond are great but they take away the attention on the tiramisu flavour which isn't enough. It needs more of the sponge soaked flavour. They actually added chocolate flakes in the bottom centre of the cake but it adds nothing to the cake.
Chicken and maple waffle. The waffle tastes odd. Like it had a corn taste. The texture was a bit different also like those fried mash potato which is crispy outside but soft inside. Really not a fan of the batter. 3/4 left. The batter of the chicken is actually very very good. It breaks apart easily even though it is crispy. Probably used buttermilk? The problem is that, it tastes like it's mostly batter or skin. There isn't a lot of chicken meat. Other places would use a whole boneless chicken thigh which would be better.
Now, if they sell these chicken bites separately with nacho cheese on the side as a dip, this would be amazing! As it stands, I will never order this chicken waffles ever again.
Prawn rillette. This reminded me of the Seafood D'lite from DeliFrance. It also reminded me of a larger version of an hors d'oeuvres. The topping and bread felt a bit separated. Maybe need a bit more sauce to ingredient ratio in order to spread over the bread a bit more to bring it together.
Plain croissant. You can taste the butter and salt but there's something missing about this croissant. I forgot to record my thoughts earlier so this is not helpful but I definitely had better ones.
Truffle and Raclette toastie. The toastie is eye catching especially with the presentation. The caramelized onions have a function. Because this toastie is rather rich with the cheese and truffle, it's not possible to finish the whole thing without getting sick of it, so eating with the onions seems to help with that. Still, it's still pushing it. I shared half of the toastie but still cannot help but get sick of it. Maybe add some cranberry jam on the side?
Coffee. This is really subjective. I ordered both hot and iced. I think their Coffee notes taste better...
Read moreI've done more than 150+ reviews.. with 1.6M contribution views.. But this will be the first time I'm giving a 1 star review, so that improvement would be made. I plan to improve the review once this outlet improves I'm comparing this outlet to other KHB outlets.
Firstly the positive"s : Location is great, you can park at premier parking B/C and immediately que to order. There is indoor & outdoor seating, but I recommend the indoor. Atmosphere indoor is great, even though you need to wait a bit for food.. as long as you eat dessert before your main dish, you won't feel it. Desserts are all great, and up to KBH standard. Most of the main dishes are good.
The Cons: Service : It's slow.. I'm guessing there is not enough staff. A whole section of the outdoor seating can't be used, because it's not cleaned. I believe there is an event Which was not cleared up before the lunch rush. So there was a queue even though there should be enough seats if the outdoor section was cleaned.
As I said most the main dish was great, except for the Big Breakfast, with an overcooked, almost burnt sauteed mushroom and definitely burnt hash browns. And the bitter Avo Control, unripe avocado was used and the bitter taste of fruit gum got thrown in the mix. It was so bitter that you can't taste anything after drinking a gulp When I asked for a replacement, the waiter came back with the same cup, with a comment from the Barista saying that it is supposed to be a bit bitter. I insisted on a replacement, and asked them to use a ripe avocado this time. It came back as it's supposed to be. As is served at other KHB. Here is my suggestion to KHB IOI Putrajaya Manager, please do better QC. Check incoming stock properly, if you must, rather then serving quality below par, put it on the days item 86 list. When a customer already spending RM400+ on a meal, don't skim on a RM8 costing replacement.. Fruits being unripe can be a miss. But customers asking for replacement because it's undrinkable should be properly entertained. Reply to this and I will edit my review.
Update it has been 5 months,, and still no reply.. I'm guessing they are to busy to care.
Immediately after the above comment, I got a long reply from KHB IOI.. so I'm bumping up review to 3, until I have the opportunity to visit...
